I am opting to go with the BMW 3 series retro fit headlight instead of the cefiros headlights. Question is, which year and 3 model headlights best fit? Do all 92-98 3 series or E36 models that fit?

For the guys who done this, how much of a pain was it to do? How much modification was need to fit it in?

The only people I know who have put BMW headlights in are the 3rd gen max guys. I don't know anyone with an I30 who has essentially "bolted up" a set of BMW headlights.

The 3rd gen max guys use E36 housings.

OH, I forgot - there's a guy here with an A32 I30 that has the last generation's 5 series headlights (with the *original* angel eyes) but I believe that required a LOT of custom work. His name is "Pawnstar" I think..

 

yes i have seen pwnstar's site but he uses i think E46 lights which are very different. I think the E36 light housing is more like the A32... as least the housing seems to be thought I am aware the bolt patterns will be different. i'm courious if any I30's here have done an E36 headlight. I much prefer the twin projectors with angel eyes over cerfios. maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part.

 

Pawnstar uses 5 series headlights...not e46.

The E36 is probably closer to the I30's housing, though I would worry about the height of the E36 housing.

 

I would love to use some BMW lights instead of getting the cefiro's. I have always loved the look of BMWs projectors. Just need some info about how to go about it.

 

sycefiro sells JDM Cefiro two piece lights that have that BMW look, and they are a direct fit.

 

Yea but he didn't tell you those lights cost $1400~$1500 alone excluding freight. Plus they are off the Eliete Edition Cefiro Wagons in Japan which were limited in production, therefore those headlights are HARD to find. Only 2~3 people in Taiwan were able to get them.

If you can do a clean job and with some help from someone experienced, go with custom projector retrofitting as these will cost you a lot less. And that great feeling after you completed those lights yourself, is pricelss.

 

HOLY **** those are expensive..... forget I even mentioned it. Doctormonkey is currently doing the other option you mentioned, so it will be interesting to see what happens.

 

I thought he was working on "plastic protector film" for the one-piece headlights? So he's got a design for the projector headlamps in the works also?

 

No, I just have a design for the Cefiro One Piece headlamps in the works right now. If you go to www.stoneguard.com, they probably already make the pretection for the Projector headlamps for the BMW's. I will check for you right now.

I thought that the current design you are working on is a Cefiro one piece WITH projectors in them, right? It would basically be the same thing, or am I missing something here?

 

Well, I was working on the protection for the regular Cefiro One Piece Headlights at the moment. I was not aware that they made Cefiro's with the projectors in them. I would think that as long as the dimensions of the headlight are the same in each one, that you would be able to use this protection for the Cefiros with the projectors. The protection only goes over the outside on the lense, so I think it should be cool.

Where can I find Cefiro one piece projector headlights for my 1996 I30??

Haha...people thought you were working on an actual projector headlamp setup for the Cefiro one-piece housings. I bet most of them misread the word "protector" for "projector"...LOL

Currently there isn't any projector setup for the one-piece housings. You could turn to some shops for custom projector setup for yours but it'll kill your wallet. I'd rather stick to H4 Bi-xenon.
