Changing the front brakes and rotors please advise.
So for my weekend project I am planning on changing my front brak pads and the front rotors. Can anyone please recommend good pads and good rotors and let me know where I can pick them up this weekend so I can do this project?
NOTE: I am in Fairfax, VA and am a daily driver, nothing else.
I don't need great or sporty or racing brakes, just replacement brakes and rotors that will last and NOT MAKE NOISE.
Thanks for your help everyone.
If you all would like to come over and help me do this, just be there by about 9:00am Saturday morning.

The issue of which brands of brake rotors and pads are the best is regularly discussed in 4th Gen. Forum. There is not enough traffic here so you might have better luck in 4th Gen. Forum if you need answers real quick. I've never heard of particular brand tends to make more noise, rotors or pads. For rotors Brembo seems to be the most popular one. I'm planning on buying Brembo blanks in the near future, too. But some people say that $20 bucks rotor from local auto shop should perform exactly the same. IMO driving style has a lot to do with durability of rotors and pads than brands do, but I admit that opinion varies from person to person.
I wish I could help you with your project but I'm too far from where you are. I used to live in Arlington (Rosslyn)though...

hasei: Thanks for the info. I actually changed my front brake pads this past weekend and it went very smooth. I bought front rotors from the local auto store and was going to put them on as well, but I tried removing the two bolts that hold the caliper on and almost proke my freekin neck trying! Those things are on and are not coming off!
I think I might need to find a shop with an air gun to get them off.
I would like to change out the front and rear rotors within the next few weeks and will probably go with the regular ones from the auto store. I am just an every day driver and don't race or anything, so I can't see paying more for fancy parts that I can't really see
That would be sweet if you were still in the area, but I agree with you. It may be a hike for you to come to my place from OH. lol
Once again, thanks for your help and have a great day!

Dr.Monkey-
I woudl recommend any carbon-metallic brake pads. I bought soem at advanced Auto and they have worked great on the rear with no noises or squeeking of any jund. As for rotors, I have used OEM and BVrembo rotors. THe brembos worked a llittle better, btu they were cross-drilled and cracked on me when heated up too much.

Thanks phenryiv1. What is the difference in rotors. For instance, if I am not getting cross drilled or anything fancy, but just regular run of the mill rotors, what is the difference between auto Zone and the OEM from the dealer and say Brembo? Is there really a difference there or is it just a name and price thing?
At this point, I think I will stick with the regular rotors I got from Fairfax auto Parts in Burke.
Any thoughts?

I dont' want to just jump, in but I would say quality control is another factor than just the quality of the material. Autozone has an name brand that makes thousands of units and a fraction of those may have some sort of defect, whereas a bigger name may make the same amount of units that has fewer defects per thousand.
My 2000 I30t rotors started warping on me after 20k, maybe I was too hard on the rotors, I don't know, but instead of having them turned, I got a set of Stillen Cross Drilled Brembo rotors, and now have 73K with no problems....just a slight hiss if I get on the brakes too hard, the gasses passing through the holes.
What's the difference in price between the Autozone brand and Brembo?
