past 100k repairs on i30
hey guys, i'm buying an i30 in 2 months, i'm wondering what repairs you guys who bought cars past 100k have had to pull off to keep the car running, and how much they've all costed.
If the alternator is original, be ready to replace that soon... try to find one cheap, before you need it,, it CAN cost $$$$....02 sensors, knock sensor....thats all ive done...getting ready to change/upgrade the suspension..i have 127k on mine.
Rayb,
Thanks for the response. I have the identical question to Evan (but been afraid to ask).
When your alt. died, what were the signs? Slow drain on battery, dimming lights, squealing, quit running, etc. I'm going to be in the same ballpark soon for miles and it's the same model as yours.
Did you swap it yourself and what unusual tools did you need (save for a beer or two).
Lastly, where did you end up getting the replacement unit?
BTW: Evan, if the starter hasn't already been replaced, it's on borrowed time. It's no big deal to do (not super expensive) and PLENTY of other fine cars have the same thing happen after that many miles & years. I think the part was about $200 (my mental Post-it notes don't stick anymore).
TIA
