How smooth does your car shift from 1st to 2nd?

I've owned my car since March, and since then I have put 12k miles on my car. Since I've owned the car, it has shifted a little "rough" from 1 to 2. Not always, but it occurs frequently. It's not a big jolt or anything, just not smooth like the higher gears.

I have had my car for over 2,5 years now. I got it used with around 100K on it. For about the first 10 minutes or so after I start the car in the mornings or after the car has been sitting for a few hours, the shift from 1st to 2nd is jerky. Nothing horrible, but like you said, not smooth like the other gears.

I have been told by mechanics and by engineer buddies of mine that it is just the fluid warming up in the trany and that is why after 10 minutes or so it shifts smoothly for the rest of the time. I believe them because I don't know much about trannys.

I hope my situation helps you with your situation a little? If anyone else knows why this is happeneing, please let us know, but I don't think it is a problem, just an annoyance.

Same here. I thought it needs a tx flush and I got it done, but that cold jerk kinda thing kicks in everytime (but certainly goes away after that 10 minutes of drive) while the shifts in the higher gears were smooth before the tx flush and smoother after the tx flush. But I got used to it

Like Michael Jackson sings, 'you are not alone!'

Just get a manual transmission, like I have, then it's up to you to shift smooth

same

Same here. When my car my car is cold is a little hard to go from 1st to 2nd gear. When I stop and go back to 1st gear then is really hard, just changed the tranny fluid.

Ok, makes me feel a little better I guess. Just something inherent in our trannies :/ There is a guide to adjust your TPS to certain resistances and this is supposed to make shifting smoother, I'll try that before I give up.
