new clutch in

so i got my new oem clutch in on wednesday. took me a while since it was raining. had to take breaks every half hour or so to dry up a bit. real easy job though. wish i had my taller jackstands though.
wow, this car feels absolutely great. i bought it used and the clutch was already worn a good amount. this thing feels a lot more powerful and quicker revving. the transmission feels so much smoother and easier to shift with the new transmission oil, not even synthetic just fresh. i just have to go ahead and change my inner and outer cv boots now. i ordered one more inner one, because they only had one in stock. so far this has been a real good lil project. gonna end up spending 250 for a new clutch, new transmission oil and inner and outer cv boots. not too bad.

That's great! Any chance of you creating a nice write-up for us?

Good work! Nice to see another 5spd. I would recomend just replacing the whole axel. Labor is the same and you can get axels for cheap..

i dont mind doing a write up if you'll find it useful. i thought about replacing the axles, but they are about 60 each, whereas the boots are 20 a pair. i do all my labor and i'd rather have an axle i know is good than a rebuilt one in. i've seen remanufactured axles that work and feel good but when inspeced closely are just plain bad. thanks for the suggestion though.

Nice... always good to see fellow I30 owners who are not scared to get their hands dirty. Personally though, when I drop in my new 5sp LSD, I am going to go with rebuilt axles. I would feel a lot better rolling on new rebuilds then 90k old axles with new boots. If you are in there, you might as well swap the whole thing out.

personally, i would rather go with new axles, but at about 6 times the cost, i think i'll stay with the ones in there. there is nothing wrong with them other than the torn outer boots. i am replacing the inner ones just because i will have the axles out anyway. yah, i dont take my cars to a shop for anything. just dont really trust them. i have a friend who had the clutch in his integra replaced and the guy forgot on of the starter bolts so that satrter was barely on with one bolt, and then he also forgot to put all the brackets back in place.

I hear ya! I never take my car to the shop for ANYTHING! All the mods that I have I put on myself. Even the new two toned leather!
