Batteries

Otay, so since the search function is disabled, can someone please explain the big deal about optima red/yellow top batteries?

Also, if the battery dies from operating the stereo and power seats while NOT running, that should be the battery right? Because if it was the alt, the battery wouldn't develop the charge required for the next start, correct?

yes that would be the battery but if u just ran it all the way down and its a fairly new battery just get a jump and drvie around for a while preferably without any electronics on and it should charge back up. just make sure u give it a good long drive and i think higher rpms will charge it faster but i could be wrong. mabye go for a long highway cruise?

Like I said, the search function is temporarily disabled. Mods can delete my post, but call me lazy...I'm not going post by post just to see why everyone insists on an optima battery when I can just ask.

Jump got her home. Car starts, but I know the radio will kill it again. I'll buy a new bat over the weekend. I still dont get the optima craze though.

Put it this way. The Optimas are great Batteries. Of course there are other batteries that are great as well, but Optima carries that name. It's kinda like Alpine in the Sound industry. They're all over in movies and shows, but they're not the only top notch electronics you can buy for your car. That decision is base solely and totally on you. Also, they are colored tops to match your engine bay and make a very nice addition and colorful touch to finish the job.

Bottom line though, if you're the type who has a TON of electrical stuff in your car including System, components multiple subs and amps plus camera tvs dvd's XBOX and PS2's, LEDs and Neons Glow Kits, etc. etc. etc. and/or use play music and any of that stuff while your car is off and your playing ball at the park or chillin in a lot with a bunch of people. The yellow top will go into deep cycle mode and pretty much never die. It's made to run like that.

The red top is just a great powerful battery that if you have an average amount of things and don't abuse the life of the battery by using so much juice while not running off engine power, then the red top is a perfect battery.

Also, price difference is only like $15, so that's not really a drastic issue, more on what you want/need.

I dont listen to the radio when the car isnt running, but my wife does. Besides that, it seems that adjusting the seat and windows is the main power drain.
I was just curious about the optima hype before I started looking for a new battery. Mystery solved.
