LED Tails and Rear Turn Signals

SO I put the RED 19 LED bulbs in my tail lights and the Amber 19 LED bulbs in my rear turn signals. AS most of you know, the LED's draw much less current than a standard bulb, so my car thinks that the bulbs are burnt out and when I engage my turn signal now, they click super fast.

I was wondering if anyone knew how to easily get my turn signals back to regular speed while keeping the LED bulbs in the rear?

I tried buying a flasher that was made for trailers, but the minute I turned the car on, I blew the 7.5 turn signal fuse. Needless to say, that did not work.

Any other ideas?

hmmm what site did u buy them from or did you buy them from the store? thats weird though. hmmm. Im planning on doing rhe same thing to my car b/c at this point i could save some current on alot of things. so them my amp can draw current better

Have you been to www.superbrightleds.com? They have direct replacements for 1157, and 1156 type bulbs.

On their site:
RL-650 Load Resistor kit
6 Ohm, 50 Watt load resistor kit
Solves most LED turn signal problems
Connect one across each LED turn signal bulb to simulate filament bulbs

Yeah, I purchased these from www.superbrightleds.com. They work great, but like I said my turn signals are now hyper like me! lol I personally don't mind them being hyper, but I sort of what them to be normal again.

I was aware of this problem before buying these lights, but I though that I could put in a trailer flasher in my car and it would solve the problem, but as you read above, that did not work

iRaMarine: Thanks for that info, I need to purchase some more things from that site so maybe I will go ahead and order the RL-650 Load Resistor kit and see if that takes care of it.

I had the same problem when i got those leds.
I only bought the leds for the rear turning signal, I was wondering if you changed them in the front as well as the rear.
If you happend to find the solution please share it.

Luigi38: I only changed them in the rear, not the front. I though I read something about them on the website that said not to put them in the same housing with the headlights, but I am not sure. To be honest, I don't think that you would be able to see the LED's in the front because I have the Cefiros and they have a chrome thing hiding the bulb in the front turn signal.

I will deffinately share once I find out how to fix this. Wish me luck.

I don't think anything would happen except my turn signals will look like they are on crack! I do not thikn that there is a law that says I can't have fast turn signals, but I am not sure. That is the only thing that I am worried about.

I guess the only other thing that could happen would be people behind or in front of me could look at my tunr signals and have a seizure!!!!! UGH LOL

LOL, yes, the clicking in the car IS much faster and my wife actually does a speed techno dance every time I put the damn turn signal on now!!! I HATE THAT DANCE!!!!!

As for the Japinese being famous for seizure materials, that's true. Look at all that animation they do!!!! GEEESEEEEEEEEEE lol

tape the dance actually....but i know in jersey u can get a ticket for having turn signals which are too fast. I think that retarded like the HID law. i figure as long as it works and people can see it it shouldnt be illegal

Ahh, I thought so, but I wasn't positive. That sh*t is ridiculous and I agree it shouldn't be illegal cuz it's still blinking regardless. IMHO, it's actually safer because if you use it, there's hardly a pause so even if somebody else isn't payin attention they're more likely to see your blinker since it does so many reps compared to a regular one.

LMAO, guys, I will try and capture this dance on film, but as you know, the wife Speed Techno dance is very illusive and has only been seen in nature with the human eyes once or twice back in the 1970's. If there is a way to capture this mysterious dance, I will do it and show you.

That sucks about the turn signals being illegal in NJ! How dumb!

Well, I ordered the load resistor kits from superbright last night along with more LED 19 bulbs for the remainder of my tail lights. I will let you know what happens lol

how do they determine whether or not blinkers move too fast? is there a certain amount of times it can blink per second?

Good question. You would think that the cop woul dhave to sit there looking at your blinker going 123456789,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20 ahhhhhhhhhhhhh TURN IT OFF ALREADY!!!! And if you are lucky, the cop would have a seizure from looking at the turn signal and you could just drive off and skip out on getting a ticket. lol he he he

Bad cop for harassing us Maxima and I30 drivers! BAD!

Yeah my girlfriend got pulled over in the I30 and the cop said it was because she had those "blue" bulbs as turn signals, and one of her brake lights was out, even though he was going in the OPPOSITE direction (and couldn't possibly see the rear at 45-50mph) and made an illegal "double yellow" U-turn just to catch up with them. But (the true reason) it was actually because she was giving her nephew and his friends a ride to school and he asked each of them if they were on probabtion, which none of them were, so he couldn't do ish about it.

Well turns out the brake light was FINE and I changed out the blue bulbs to Amber LEDS. They look great--clear when not in use and bright and amber when they are. BUT I've got the same thing...the friggin things blink at warp speed! But I'm with Max Mute, that if anything it's safer because people are BOUND to notice the signal bliking at Mach 3.

Well, I ordered the load resistor kits from superbright so I will let you know if that fixes the problem or not. I'll take some pics once this whole thing is done too, if anyone cares .lol
