a full drain will be around 5 quarts of atf, if you're sticking with the conventional stuff use mobil 1 atf, otherwise mobil 1 or amsoil atf. since the vq30de is used in both the maxima and i30 you can use a maxima drain plug. you don't need to change the drain plug though, the most important thing in my opinion is to replace the crush-ring. 70 cent part. as far as removing the plug goes, it should just be 14mm if my memory serves me correctly, if you're having that hard of a time get soem penetrating fluid and a breaker bar.

You do not need to replace that ring just use a good layer of ultra blue silicon sealer on the bolt (over the copper ring), before you put it pack in the pan. After draining the fluid from the tranny using the drain bolt, remove the 23 bolts and drop the pan, so you can change out the filter, and replace the pan gasket. Also, do not forget to clean the sludge/ metal shavings from the pan and pan magnet.

NEVER go by the recommended fluid amount in the manual. YOU WILL OVER FLOW THE TRANNY. You MUST fill the tranny via the dip stick tube in 1/4 quart incraments, constantly checking the fluid level on the dip stick. The engine must be warm and move the tranny into each gear EVERY TIME before checking the fluid level. Once it is in the middle or near the upper dot, the fluid is at the correct level.
