i30 vs g35 (my impression from the loaner)

I dropped off my 2001 i30 at the dealer today due to a CEL code (P0135).

This is the 3rd 2004 g35 they have given me as a loaner. The g35 is definitely a nice car, but I feel that my i30 is more comfortable. The g35 is almost 'too tight', I like the softer suspension of the i30. g35 is surely fast, but the i30 is fast enough for daily driving. The g35's interior seems more 'plastic' than the i30.

Just sharing my observation......

No doubt about it, the I series has more luxury and a higher quality of build than the G. Remember, the I costs more and historically has been higher in the hiererachy than the G too.

I had a G for a loaner and the interior does feel cheap, but the power makes up for it. the ride was comfortable enough for me considering that it is a sportier car. Overall, I would probably not get the G sedan, but would consider the coupe. Now if only I can take the FX next time....

it was fun to play with the 'auto-stick' shift, and red-line the loaner though..

oh yea.. its the rule of loaners.. redline the hell out of it.. well long as u dont blow it up.. cause i think the dealer might be a bit mad...

hmm my friend has the g35 the one with inifiniti in small itty bitty letters on teh trunk... like the one of the early models... yea anyway.. its a nice car... i think i would take it over the i... cause those things can take of.. but as far as the interior no doubt.. the i is alot more... hmm "classy" and comfy..

Hmmm that's funny, I felt as though my loaners are as powerful as my car. I don't think the G35 auto sedans have as much pull off the line as I do either.

Oh wait. I'm VQ35 equipped too.

You guys just have to keep in mind that the I30/35 is a luxury car while the G35 is a sports car. For me the thing I trip over everytime I get a loaner is the RWD handling compared to my I30. And that's before any suspension mods while my I30 have springs & struts along with a FSTB and RSB.

Just to add-in to the comments. When I bought my G20t from Jim Coleman, I had a crap load of problems with it. I was given a G35 sedan loaner for three weeks so, I had long time to get real familiar with the G35. My impressions were:
Pros:
Great, if not ridiculous amount of handling
Power is better than I35 (the shifts were really quick even in full auto)
All wheel drive (I had a G35x)
Dual Climate control
Cons:
Hated the orange dash lights
Dash sucked really bad, mine was fading bad by the climate controls and radio
Aluminium was terrible
Bad seat adjuster locations
Bad gas mileage (I thought the I35 was bad) and gas sucker
Cheap feel.

Oh and the G35 base price is lower than the I35s, but fully loaded with every option, the G35 in Sedan and Coupe form cost more than the I35 Fully loaded. I was going to buy the sedan at first, but after driving a loaner for three weeks, I really didn't like it too much. I compared both the I35 and G35 sedan together, and I personally just like the I35 better. Heated steering wheel, rear heated seats, the sun shade, sourjner leather, retractable navi and better faux wood trim sold me.

Yeah, there are rear strut tower bars made for our cars, but from what I've read this mod doesn't help too much. Definately get the rear sway bar before the strut bar, I really like mine.
