Unless you're increasing to larger brakes I don't know that any brand is any better than the other. It seems to me that Maxima brakes are undersized anyway, and as such, most will warp.

Cross drilled rotors will rarely, if ever, see any performance benefit on the street, and are more prone to stress cracks. Slots are better in terms of strength, though noise when braking becomes an issue as well as the argument as to whether you'd actually notice any benefits.

I bought into the cryogenically treated rotors fad from frozenrotors.com, and they've been good for about 10k miles now. Put on new OEM pads - no warping. Only time will tell if these will resist warpage. I haven't noticed any "gain" in braking with these either.

stock is cool by me, doesnt squeak, brake pedal feel is great, unless your going to go big 12-13in+ just stick with stock or oem equivalent

Well what all do you need? All rotors and pads? Or just front, or rear, or rotors and no pads, etc.? Even if your budget is $500 I don't think you should have too much trouble getting what you need.

And try the 4th gen forums. They've probably covered brake replacement there ad nauseum.

umm...some dumbass put some kind of red fluid in the master cylinder(seriously not me!) and i need to replace all the rubber stuff inside the system along with the pads and rotors...so...yeah...all the hoses...maybe the master cyl...brakes rotors...just wondering if i should invest in bigger brakes...i am getting 18's soon so maybe i need to get something more appealing rather than taking tha PIMP MY RIDE look(stock brakes under big wheels)

If you want noticeably better braking than you're going to have to get a big brake kit. That will cost you more than $500 though. I'm in the process of getting all the parts for a 300zx calipers and 13" Cobra rotor brake kit, and it should cost me about $700 or $800 for everything. This is the most affordable BBK that I have seen for our cars.

As for me, I use the SKYLINE GTR r32 breaks system. it's bigger and lots of power. even tho i have to mod some holding points but better than the stardard one for sure. however, putting this set on, my hand break doesn't work cuz taking out the rear standard set will also taking away the handbreak thingy too. To correct this problem, i bought a small calipers to set up the handbreak cable.

Went with zinc-plated Brembo blanks and Akebono pads for about $260 total. It's not like I tried everything but no complain so far...

I was going to put on some slotted rotters and simply take my time and paint the calipers with caliper or engine block paint. If done right, the overall look is top notch!

I got the rotors from the GD AuToMax_95 organized. I take it you already know that because your post was there in his thread. For Akebono pads, I bought it from rockauto.com.
