What platform is the G20 built on?

somewhat off topic, but now that I own an i30 I look at the other infiniti's on the road.

I see a lot of G20's on the road, and figure they have to be built on the sentra or altima chassis, but have no idea.

anyone? just curious...

Yeah I believe the motor is the KA20DE, but its definitely the Sentra.

I've read people doing the swap similar to the one in 240sx's, using the Silvia motor SR20DET and swapping it into a G20.

that's what i thought. just didn't know for sure.
my first car was a '75 B-210 and my first new car was a '88 Sentra. They both did over 15 years on the road.

It's based on the Nissan's European model called Primera. Nissan sold it in Japan too with the same name. I'm not so sure if it's built on Sentra chassis.

The engine in the G20 is the SR20DE (non-turbo), and it is on a platform similar to the Sentra's.

No... SR20DE. I doubt that anybody would swap an engine in their car if they knew it was an engine they already had.

He got confused. 240SXs come with KA24DE (and some KA24E) motors. As everyone knows, folks commonly swap them out with SR20DET motors.

G20s come with SR20DE motors stock. Yes, some people swap in JDM FWD SR20DET motors. Others turbocharge the existing DE. Some swap in SR20VE motors.

The last few sentra chassis have been B13, B14, and currently B15.

The first G20s were the P10 platform and the last cars were P11.

It's the Primera, no relation to the Sentra.

You are correct, thus looking at my sig you will see i also own a 2001 G20t. It's not a sentra/which is basically a sunny in other markets besides the US. The g20 is a Nissan Primera (P11) for 99-02 and early years they were (P10)outside of the US not a sentra two different cars with different purposes. The engine in the G20 stateside is SR20DE. The engine in other countries are the SR20DE, SR20VE, SR20DET and rare cases are the SR20VET. Most common engine swaps are the Bluebirds SR20DET (t) for turbo and SR20VE (v) for variable timing, sort of nissan's answer to the VTEC for hondas. G20 stateside are stupid slow, japan they are 14s quartermile cars. With some mods 13s with cams and other highend mods limitless. My g20t is currently faster than my I35 go figure ?! with mods however.

Anyway this thread is off topic and it will probably get filed-13 so, i am glad i put my .02c in.

My mistake.

My thought process was relating to the 240sx and swapping an SR20DET into that, my bad.
