Actually, if they gave the I35 a 5spd (auto) transmission and up the horsepower and torque + AWD I would take that anyday. I am dreaming though so, oh well!

Sounds like the M35 is the car for you.

Actually, I will take the M45 over the awd m35 anyday. AWD 280hp vs RWD V8 315hp doesn't even compute as a thought process for me. MODS MODS

The new M45 is 340 hp, why would the new one make less hp off the same engine than the old one?

And for those that favor the AWD, that AWD system adds at least 600 lbs extra to the vehicles weight! Good luck with a respectable 1/4 mile. I think I will risk the elements in a RWD.

Though if you're simply looking to modify...there's tons more aftermarket support for the RWD VQ35 than there is for the VK45DE.

My mistake, that's even better for me with 340 hp. AWD is not worth it for me. We get bad weather here in MD but not enough to warrant awd mated to a v6. AWD V8 sounds alittle more like it.

I know but I have been modding nissan's v6's for 10 years now. I would like to work/custom work to nissan V8, plus I never owned a V8 car before let alone mod one. Would love to try!

Rivals to Lexus.... IMHO, I think the j30 was infinti answer to the GS300 in 93 when it first came out. The GS300 was rear wheel, and the J30 was rear wheel both were also classified as sport sedans. Infiniti needed to answer lexus's camry remake which was a hot seller the ES300. Thus we got the I30. ES300 was entry level lux and so was the I30. ES300 based off the camry had front wheel drive, the same as the maxima and it's remake, the I30. So as long as those two cars were rivals, they virtually stayed the same just with bigger engines now and bigger and plusher interiors. The I30s was infiniti's best seller for awhile until G35 and lexus was eating us up 4-1 with the ES300. Infiniti changed and I guess decided to go after sporty cars and not boring cars like lexus. That's why we have the G35s (vs 3 series) and the new 2005 M45/35 (vs 5 series) FX35/45 (vs X3-5 series) to compete with the Germans and not Lexus anymore. Infiniti did a good thing by going rwd with all of their cars now IMHO!
