99 igniition coils fit in a 98 I30?

So my friend has extended warrenty on his 98 I30. I myself have a 99 i30 limited, and have that problem of a bad ignition coil. Is it worth a $100 deductable to get it fixed, in addition to the fun for my friend for getting a loaner car? Or should I find the bad one and buy another online? another question, will my 99 ignition coil fit on a 98 i30?

you are not going to find a new coil online for less than $100. The 99 coils will work on a 98 and vise versa.

WOW... everythingnissan.com has them for $50! Dealer list price is only $75 as well. I would have thought that they would be more than $100 for sure. I guess everything is not a complete rip off.

the dealer installs it too correct? i would rather spend 100 bucks and not worry about it, and drive a loaner car

you would be crazy to pay to have them put in. There could not be an easier thing to do on our cars.

guess i'll do this on my own then, you guys have any links as to how to test it with an ohm meter? there was another post that talked a little about it, but that wasn't too clear. i'm not too mechanically adept, so i kind of need a step by step kinda thing...thanks guys.

Alright, so I found out that an ignition coil in the rear is bad. I first exchanged the 3 front ones with my friend's I30...nothing happened. I then changed 2 of the rear's, since the third one is kind of hard to take out (some wiring blocking the way). Now I know for sure that 1 of the 2 rears are bad, because my car has been running great with my friend's coils, and he now has that shaking problem my car had.

SO, the most important question I hope you guys can answer, is which coil do I buy? I'm not sure if the rear ignition coil is "left" or "right", or if it's "Mitsubishi" or "Hanshin". Here's what I mean http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...e=14&model=I30 . So which one do I order? Thanks in advance.

Once you find out exactly which one needs to be replaced (since it has been narrowed down to 1 of 2 in the rear), call everything nissan at 1-480-941-0055. Give them your VIN and they will be able to get the one you need (50% off too)!

might i add that i now notice that with the bad ignition coil, my car loses noticeable power. i live up a hill, and when i'm in a stop sign, then accelerate, the car is now smooth with the good coils. i also notice better acceleration on freeways, and just an overall smoother ride. with the bad coils, i remember the car lagging. i should've done this long ago, when the problem started probably half a year ago. it's a lot more fun to drive now =).

oh yeah... driving with bad coil(s) is no different than driving with sh!tty spark plug wires. They can make all the difference in a cars performance!
