Hub Centric Rings

Do these really correct the vibration problem like the manufacturer says. Bec even with my BRAND NEW RIMS AND TIRES balanced out, they still shake at 35. 60, 90, and 115 mph's. and it annoys the shlt out of me. so they say these little rings that go in the center of the inside of the rim will correct this problem..bs?

Yes, w/o hub centric rings you can get a vibration.

Hub centric rings are needed most of the time with aftermarket rims. The center bore on aftermarket rims are made to be able to fit a wide variety of cars, so there will not be an exact fit on most vehicles. Having hubcentric rings or having the exact center bore allows the rims to be automatically balanced on the hub, w/o the rings or the correct center bore you are relying on the lug studs to center the rim, which is not going to exact. Hub centric rings are just small round pieces of plastic that increase the diameter of the center bore on the hub to match the center bore of aftermarket rim.

If you are still confused then take off your stock rims and put them back on. Notice how the rim fits snugly over the the round lip on the hub? That is because the center bore on those rims are made for that car, now if the center bore on the rims was larger the rim would not balanced on the hub, thus causing a vibration at certain speeds.

I had to use hub centric rings with my 17's, it is very normal to do so with aftermarket rims. Good retailers such as TireRack suppy the rings at no charge with any rim purchase. I don't have to use them with my Q45 rims though because Nissan/Infiniti uses the same 66.Xmm hub bore on every car/rim.
