RE: Should I keep my OEM tires or switch?

I recently bought a 1998 I30 which came with Michelin MVX's 205/65 x15 -- which I think are the OEM tires. They have about 50-60% of the original tread left (moreso on the fronts since the former owner did not rotate them enough).

I am selling my 1992 Max on which I put a set of Bridgestone RE950 Potenzas, 215/60 x 15. The RE950's have about the same amonut of treadwear left; i.e., 50-60%.

I like how the Potenzas handle on wet roads, and that is the reaon why I have bought them for most of the ten years I owned the Max.

My question is: should I leave them on the Max (and the Michelins on the I30), or should I do a 2- car switch and mount them onto the I30?

Thanks!

I used to have those Mich MVX4 Energies. Not a bad tire- quiet and decent grip in all conditions. They would pull alot if I hit a deep puddle on the side of the road, though. And they'd start squealing a lot earlier than they should have when being pushed in turns, or other non-linear maneuvers.

Got some BF Goodrich Traction T/As in November and couldn't be happier. Great traction all around, even in the snow. Not the prettiest tire out there, and certainly not the most quiet. But if you're looking for traction in all conditions, you can't do much better.

Well, I sold them with my Max, but, in retrospect, I should have swapped them onto my I30...darn!

I have a set of 215/60/15 Potenza RE950's with about 80% tread left on them that I may be getting rid of.

The tires that come on the 04 are not the same potenza's. But they would both be not too good for the snow

My 950's are excellent in the dry and rain, but so so in the snow. But that is why they are an all season high performance tire

I just put a set of those on a couple months back. They certainly do a lot better in the snow than the stock Good Year Eagles, but they are no where near as good at high speeds. Where my car used to be stable and controlled at triple digit speeds, it now gets a bit squirmy over 120.

Those Eagles sure did suk in the snow though.
