Feels like bad motor mounts, but Infiniti dealer says, "No."

On my I30, when I lightly press and release my accelerator pedal, I get a noticable up-and-down shake or shimmy that is identical to the sensation I used to get when the motor mounts on my Maxima were worn.

The Infiniti service department claims that the mounts are just fine, so what else could be causing this problem?

What about the tranny being the source of the clunking?

Have you looked at the mounts? May want to start with that since its pretty easy.

Did they acknowledge that a problem exists? Then they have to fix something

I wonder if you also have a front strut tower brace and if it is hitting something as the engine naturally shifts under load? (I posted in another thread on this and it sounded like a familiar symptom...)

As you hear it more and more, start from the driver's seat and think about what two types (and densities) of material could make that sound and go from there.

(I'm assuming it happens at idle or you would have provided the MPH when it happens)
The only other thing I can think of to do is (with engine on) have someone move the throttle connection on the engine through a series of ranges and you crawl around to see where it is truly coming from. They sell automotive s***hescopes for this sort of thing for not too much money...

Good luck....be careful.

Damn I'm in the same boat bro... last night I punched it and I believe I felt the engine kick back... then it took off/accelerated. I was hoping ES would come out with automatic motor/tranny mounts.

I cannot assume that the dealer actually looked at my mounts, so I'll have someone else look at them.

I was wondering, "Don't they use liquid filled mounts in the I30 & Maxima?"

Can the liquid ever run out? Is it posible that the mounts look OK from the outside but the insides are structurally deficient?

BTW, I do not have a FSTB (not yet anyway). The noise is definitely isolated in the engine bay.
