I don't think the I30 was available with a 5spd.

yeah it was

the rare 'base' model (no leather, no sunroof) could be equipped with a 5spd, and the Toruing version (I30t) were largely availaable with the manual gearbox.

I would disagree. The majority of I30ts came with the auto like the rest. Lets face it people these days dont want to shift their own gears. They are all morons of course!!

I have obtained a 96 Black/Black I30 5spd last August for my gf..... It's got G35 coupe front seats....
Thinking of getting rid of the Cefiro-ized Maxima (98 SE) in about next month or so.

I have a 98 I30T. The only reason I looked at it was it had a 5 speed. I was not in the market for one but it caught my eye. I did not realize how rare it was until after I bought it. Quite a bit of fun.

well i will soon have a half bread, I am hoping to do the front end conversion with the cefiro headlights, i am going to keep the tranny i have apparently i wasn't rebuilt it was a brand new tranny installed. So maybe withing the next 6 months there will be a 1999 Se-limited with VLSD and I30T front. I was also luck enough today to find an autodimming mirror/leather ebrake handle and I30T front head rest at the junk yard from a 1999 I30T. The damn thing had BLACK leather with perferated seats but it was in an accident and the drivers side impact airbag had blown . i May go back for the rear seat but i think it will be funny with my non-perferated front seats.

I have the same exact car as I30TMikeD. Dark green i30t 5 speed, that's the main reason why I bought the car.

i wish my 5speed I30 was black or green maybe i would fix it. I hate the Gold on Tan combo. if it was black on black i would probally pull the motor from my max and throw it in there lol

I30T 5 speed right here. I was going to buy a Max, but after I saw an I30 with a manual gearbox, that sealed my decision!

I have had two 1996 I-30t's with the 5 speed VLSD tranny. My first one was black/black, but was totaled in December, 2003 (not my fault). I looked all over for another black/black, but best I could find was a black/tan 1996 from Leeinky, here on this forum. I flew to Kentucky to get it. It now has 157k miles and the original clutch.

I have a 1996 i30t, 5 speed, runs great. Black on black leather. Awesome. I wished I knew how many were produced in 1996. I can not find that number anywhere. I am willing to sell mine for anyone interested. I am in San Antonio,Tx. Every record from day one.

how much are you asking?

I just picked up a Pearl White '96 I30 5spd. No moonroof, cloth interior with vlsd today. Very well cared for car with 148k miles on it. Just had a new clutch put in at the dealer.

I have a '96 I30 base, cloth interior and no sunroof, with 5 speed manual. 273k miles, and unfortunately the transmission has started making bad noises when in neutral and the clutch is let out. Also making a bad whine from the trans at highway speeds.

Does anyone know if the 4th Gen Maxima manual transmission will swap in directly? I thought that I read about some minor difference in the shift linkage that made the Infiniti version superior.

The i30s usually have VLSD transmissions so there is a difference but a Maxima trans bolts right up, I am doing my 5spd swap right now.

The left drive shaft has to match the transmission. Everything else is a direct swap.
