Cruise control vac pump noise.

Has anyone noticed that the vacuum pump which controls the cruise control is kinda noisy? I was just came back from the store and for the first time decided to use my cruise control at 30-35 mph speeds. Every so often I would hear what appeared to be a faint knocking sound which would disappear after I hit the brakes or deactived the cruz. After checking Alldata.com I found that the cruise control uses a vacuum pump which made me realize that the sound I was hearing was actually the pump generating vacuum. Sounds very much like a handheld brake bleeder pump or a manual blood pressure pump that nurses use. Do any of you notice the noise from the pump at these speeds or is it just me?
