Insurance Offer

I totaled my 96 i30t about a week ago and the insurance offered me 5000. I declined commenting that a manual i30t especially blk/blk was rare thus worth more. If I can provide evidence of manuals being more expensive I get more money! Can anyone help out with some links or ads for a 96 manual i30t? Mine had about 145,000mi so something close to that would be nice but adjustments are possible.

Actually because your car is 5 speed, it will have a lower resale value.

5000 is already good enough for a 96 I30 with 145K miles. Take the money and run!

you may not find many 96 i30 5spds for sale....check autotrader and present your ins co with copies of ads. 5 grand is a decent amount IMHO...take it and run.

Wow, I would take that money and run. Even though I am living up north and taking into account the dollar difference and the mileage, the insurance offer is actually quite high.

I don't mean to sound pessimistic, but ACV is not same as retail value.

all three of those links have lower milage than yours and are still overpriced. check back in a month and those same cars will still be for sale.

no one is trying to discourage you from getting top dollar for your car, just trying to be realistic. how much are you willing to pay for a 9 or 10 year old car with 145k?

For a good estimated value, add trade in value with retail value, and divide by two. kbb.com is a good place to start because they base both prices on recent sales in the region and have no emotional ties that make them think a car is worth more than it really is.

edmunds.com may have something also.

Good luck.

Once again....HA! Argued this whole time with the insurance company and they settled this morning on $8,770. Every time I ask questions on here no one is very helpful anymore...just a mix if ignorance and pessimism from the "novices". Be more positive people. Perception = Reality

For 4 months I tried to sell my 97t with less than 100K miles for $7000 about a year ago and there were no takers. I tried about everything ion the book to get it noticed. (it's pristine with no mods.)

I'm enviouis and at the same time ....likewise suspicious.

(I sold the 2000 limited instead ...and kept the t.)

That's a great settlement. My '96 I-30t, 5 speed, 130k miles, black/black was totalled 17 months ago. (I posted pictures from the wreck on this forum.) The other driver's insurance carrier only offered about $5k. I settled for $7k after making serious noise about a lawsuit. I searched all over for another black/black 5 speed, then bought a black/tan '96 I-30t, 5 speed, on this forum from LeeinKy for $5,500, and spent about $1,500 traveling to Kentucky to pick it up, fixing some things (like the parking brake cables), and changing the window tints to North Carolina legal. So, I figured I came out even. That car now has 160k miles on it, and I still love it (except for the dark brown dash).

$8,770 is a great settlement. Did you have to agree to waive any personal injury claim as part of the deal?
