hey my gf is considering buying a 2000 I30 with 117k on it for around 8500. Thats a pretty good deal but i am wondering what i should be looking for when we go test drive it. I own a 99 max so am i looking for similar problems or do the 2000 I30s have their own issues? thanx

Ask the 5th gen guys... they should be able to tell about any wide spread engine problems at least.

I own a 2000 I30 w/ 130K on the dial. The only problems I have had thus far have been bad O2 sensors - but I don't think there's a way to "look" for a potentially bad sensor. Other than that...no major mechanical issues for me *knock on wood*

And even at that O2 sensors are regular maintenance items...
