tweaked headlights and fogs

Well after painting my headlamps black, I finnaly got around to painting my fogs to match. While I had the housing open I also installed some of those Lexus style, yellow glass capsules for the fogs.

I dont like having anything but clear lenses/ reflectors (hence all the clearing and chromed bulbs. So when I installed these yellow capsules, I just bought some longer screws and was able to re-install the cutoff shield. Now sunlight wont illuminate the entire reflector with amber when the fogs are off.

To be honest, painting the fog surrounds black isn't really that noticable (go figure ). But hey Im all about the small details. The bright amber color of the fogs is great though! Now I just need to visit my favorite headlight aiming spot and make any needed adjustments (I think they are aimed a bit low).

I know but my camera is about 1500 miles away, so as soon as I can borrow a camera Ill post some pics.

Nice! I bet it looks good. Do get a pic up when you can.

I was just gonna start a thread asking if someone had done this in a 00 I30. I'm gonna do the same. What wattage bulb are you running? What about the cornering lights? Have you done anything there? I was thinking about wiring them so they'd run with the fogs and doing a yellow capsule there also. Would have to do one and check and see how it looked. Could look good, but than again might not. Are the cornering lights H3 bulbs also?

I left the corner lights just like they were. The bulb in there is the same as whats in our turn signals, so im not sure if it would be worth trying to mod.

Im just running 55w h3's in the fogs cuz they were what I had laying around. I really am not sure if it makes much difference over the 35w stockers. I think input is probably the same no matter which bulb you put in there. Im definately not a lighting specialist, so if someone could explain how it works that would be great.

I was wondering where you get the yellow capsules from?

I bought the capsules from www.hidtech.com. I dont believe these are actually listed on the website though. I just sent $37 ($30 for the capsules and $7 for shipping), via PayPal to sales@hidtech.com. Just write in the comments window that you are ordering the Lexus Yellow Bulb Capsules. I also wrote them an e-mail to let them know what I ordered.

Remember to tell them what type of capsule you are ordering. I went with the 9006 capsules because I was told they give off a better color than the H3 capsules... Plus thay are bigger, and I want the option of bright, yellow HID fogs in the future .

As far as pics, Ill take some when I wash my car this weekend. Sorry for the delay.

You're lucky you can open your fogs without a dremel.....I tried to do the same thing a few weeks ago and no matter how much I heated the fogs, the glue wouldn't loosen.....go figure...

Post pics when you can....

if your gonna run higher wattage you might want ot consider a simple relay setup.

autozone... like 3$... and soem heavy wire from homdepot.. 2$.... it helps get power to the bulb and a direct power from teh batt ensures optimum brightness from the bulbs..

= ) ...

<-----crashed i30... = ( will be fixing soon... ...

Well I finally got around to taking some pics, but I had to use my Dad's camera which I dont really know how to use so there is a lot of glare in these pics. You can get the general idea of the color of the fogs with yellow capsules and 6000k Ultinon HID's. Ill post some cleaner pics once I have MY camera back.
