2000+ I30 Fog Light Bulb Sizes

Can anyone tell me what size the replacement bulbs are for the 2nd. gen I30 fog lights? I've searched the forum and google and have only found sizes for the 1st gen I30. I'd like to get some PIAA's to replace them, but am open to any suggestions.

Thanks in advance

We have a 35w H3 and any PIAA's you buy are going to be 55w. You will need to widen a cutout on the bulb base in order for them to fit. This is really easy though...

I just use a dremel or a file and widen the cutout a bit (maybe 2mm.) I have heard that others have just forced them into the fogs by pushing the base with a screwdriver.

Fantastic, Man. Thanks a bunch. I'd like to find some PIAA's to replace the stock bulbs. I'm looking to go as bright & white as possible. As far as you know, is there any problem using the 55w?

Ive been using 55w bulbs for years now without any problems. I dont think I'd want to go anything above 55w though. If you try to use really high wattage bulbs you run the risk of destroying your wiring harness.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm considering going with the PIAA ION Crystals. Apparently they're great in fog and rain/snow.

I wouldn't buy the Ion Crystals for fog/rain performance. Our fogs are definately not the highest performing out there. Buy the Ion's for the yellow color (i did), but not for performance.

If you really want yellow fogs, the capsules are the only way to go. I was a bit disapointed with the PIAA's, so I installed the capsules and they are awesome. VERY yellow.

i put in aftermarket fog lamps many of times. they keep burning out like every week or so. I just got tired of it and put the factorys back in. Does anyone know why they would keep burning out?

You installed a whole new lamp or just the bulbs?

So your fogs work normally with the stock bulbs? What kind of A/M bulbs did you buy?

Early bulb failure could be because of finger oil on the glass, bad fuse, or a bad ground, or even a bad connection/relay.

I get the idea from some people that PIAA's are overpriced and there are other quality options available for much lower price. Any opinions on that?

Any blue tinted glass bulb is just a blue tinted glass bulb, Piaas IMO overprice for their product. I always recommend MTEC brand bulbs on eBay, or even www.luminicsbulbs.com. I've tried both in different sizes, and they look exactly like my roomies' $85 Piass Super White.

yea i guess my connections are bad for the fog lights. the A/M was some crapy brand. that can also be the reason maybe. I bought those angel eye headlights and have them installed and everything, but i want to put a blue light in it instead of the bright white, or white period. do they sell straight up blue headlight bulbs?

You mean where the bulb shines blue COMPLETELY? Then no, because those bulbs would have no light output.

I swear ive seen the blue headlights on some cars. Oh well i guess i was seeing things. However, can you get any blue to be seen through a bulb. bcuz the ones i have are like super white, and at night time they blind the hell out of oncoming traffic.
