A33 I30/I35 owners with CLEAR SIDEMARKERS
How did you guys install the rear sidemarkers?? Mine doesn't fit with either the new socket ot the factory socket plugged into the new clear sidemarker. The factory socket goes into the factory sidemarker from an angle, while the clear one has the socket going at 90 degrees (perpendicular). The sockets bumps into some kind of body material behind the sidemarker. Also, when I tried to test fit the clear sidemarkers without the the socket plugged in, it doesn't stay in!!!??? The clips don't CLIP in, and it'll fall out with the slightest movement. WTF!!??? And yes, I know the front and rear are different shaped, the fronts are already in, albeit the socket is so loose from cutting off one of the tabs, it'll either fall out or leak water.
I can't believe we paid $60-70 bucks for 4 pieces of plastic that:
1. Is a PITA to install
2. Needing splicing or cutting of the factory bulb socket
3. Rear ones not fitting in completely

Here is a pic of the front clear sidemarker installed with 194 white inverted LEDs. Surprisingly, these inverted white LEDs have NO hint of blue or purple, just plain HID-like white.

You have the trim down the wiring harness in order for them to fit correctly. Just saw around the plastic without cutting through the wires. The plastic is pretty soft so it will go pretty quickly. I've had to do this twice already, so trust me, it's not that difficult.
BTW, I love the superwhite LEDs. They look GREAT with the HID. I finally got pulled over for the color of the bulbs and changed the rears out for red. I dont yet have the heart to switch out the fronts though.

Edit: And what did you do about the clips not going in all the way? Just push really hard?

okay here's what i did. i took the harness that came with the clear sidemarkers and just plugged them into the factory harness. the pardox harness has two metal "blades" at the end of the wires, i just slided those into the slots in the factory harness (PICS. #12 & #16). i stuck the extra wires down into the fender well(PIC. #15). as for the metal clips. i just pried them opened slightly, this allowed it to hold onto the body fairly tight. i just took the sidemarker out too take the pics and it was in there very tight, almost couldn't get it out.
if link doesn't work , click a few times. webshots been having probs. lately.

you should try the "Super-fractor" leds, i have them in the headlamps, they are BRIGHT! brighter than regular leds.

Ok, since we are on the subject of clearmarkers. How many of you with the clear markers from paradox & custom enterprise have condensation in your clear marker housing?
I have condensation in the housing and I go through PIAA bulbs every 4 months because the blue paint that covering the bulb gets eaten away by the moisture. After awhile the blue paint comes completely off and the bulb produces the nasty yellow/white beam like the foglamps.
Now for you guys with the LEDs. Are the bulbs painted or are they real LEDs??? Can moisture affect the LED bulbs?? I am thinking about switching over to LEDs but I am also a Car Washing Fanatic and it seems like I will not get rid of the moisture unless someone comes out with a better design (I already tried to seal the housing with silicone. ).

Oh and n3985 - I do not have the clear markers installed in the rear.
Front headlamps with HID look better with clear side markers and matching HID bulbs. The rear red tail-lamps look better with the stock/oem rear red bumper lenses. To me, it just looks better IMHO. I did drive around with the clears in the rear but, I thought it was toooooooo rice for the I35. I think the maximas look better with the clears in the rear.

By the way - I've never had any problems with condensation. Did you double up on the o-rings on the lense housing like I mentioned in the FAQ?
LOL, but seriously, if you haven't, I'd try that. I think that helps create a firmer seal and lock moisture out. I've been running clears for at least 2 years (maybe longer even) with the same bulbs and still no moisture.

LEDs are "real" LEDs and are not painted like Piaas, Polargs. BUT, being an electric device, it will still short out if water is present. I too noticed that the bulb socket is loose in the sidemarker and am going to seal it with eletric tape today. I already cut the new bulb socket to 1/2 length, hope it will fit now into the rear. Also, we ought to e-mail Paradox, because their instructions are somewhat wrong.
1. Front markers have 4 tabs, and only the big one need to be trimmed slightly to fit into new clear sidemarker.
2. Rear markers have 3 tabs, and the big one needs to be COMPLETEly cut off to fit the new clear sidemarker.
3. For the rear, the factory OR the new bulb socket needs to be cut to length as it will hit internal body panel.
4. Rear clear sidemarker's tabs do not fit right, and need to be adjusted accordingly.
5. All bulb socket to sidemarker connections needs to be either double O-ringed or tape sealed or silicone sealed. *MUST DO*
Cant' believe we go through all this sh*t for some clear sidemarkers.

I think I am going to go with the LEDs that n3985 has and compare them to the amber bulbs side by side.
Hey n3985 - Where did you get the LEDs from again???

I've never had good luck with 194 LED bulbs, they always seemed to burn out on me or become detached from their base.
I was considering changing to amber LED bulbs, but even in the daylight, with the amber bulbs in there, the lense still looks clear. Can't really see any amber unless you're looking for it.

Hey n3985 - I need you to check for the fog lamps while you are over there. SEE if you can find the foglamps that go on a ST-R maxima PLEASE. I would highly appreciate it.
