one piece cefiro question

Wattup guys...

I just got a set of these one piece headlights fer my cefiro and was wondering what types of bulbs are required? I know the main light are H4's are im ordering HID's fer that... but wat kind of bulb fits the signal light and what the hell is that other small bulb in the main headlight housing? What kind of bulb is it and what is that light used for? This probably has been answered many times, but i couldnt seem to find any relevant posts... any help much appreciated...

Only thing I can answer is the small bulb is for daytime/running lights. Illuminates the housing but doesn't project light. Some people have put in colored bulbs for that.

The city light is most likely 194/168. The signal bulb is either 1156 if it has a round base, or 7440 is it has a flat base.

Outer ones are 1157 (Dual filament), city lights are 194 (can be wired up with Ignition On mode from various sources so it comes on when the car is on). Also, if you have the sockets for the side markers (some kits don't come with them), you can use spade terminals and crimp them to the wires that went to the old sockets and slide them over the pins in the new sockets. The advantage to doing this rather than the common method is that you are not cutting any plastic from either the brand new Cefiro headlights, nor the original sockets thus preserving the ability to easily convert back to the old headlights in case you're selling the car.

with my cefiro lights my factory side marker lights worked fine, no modifications, and no melting of that clear over piece whatsoever. only thing i had to do was wire in the H4 harness

Possibly the reason your outer marker lights worked just fine was because you got the black housing versions which are not Nissan OEM. Therefore, they probably had the same sockets that the US I30 has. The Chrome ones that are from Nissan use a different socket and they come with the housings, but use a different connector than the US I30s.

How the hell do I get some connectors for the city lights??

I have had these Cefiros for 3 years and the city lights just sit there.

Actually, my cefiros came with the bulb sockets for the city lights as well. You need to basically wire them up to whatever source you want by cutting the connector off. You might be able to use very small spade terminals like the side markers, but those are pretty hard to find in that small of a size. I actually found a wire in the relay box behind the driver side headlight that was hot only when the car was turned on and connected the positive of each city light to it. As for the ground, you can connect that to any close ground to the lights. If you go with that route, I would suggest that you use some kind of terminals that are disconnectable in case you need to remove the headlights. The other option is to just connect them to the old running lights that were amber 194 bulbs in the old headlights. This would let you still use the wiring harness for the old corner lights but the city lights only come on when the parking lights are on. I personally like having them on whenever my car is driving.

Do your fogs come on with the running lights? Maybe that's how.

Since I have the city bulb already in the housing, all I need is the connector to splice on the end of my oem city light wiring.

not to thread hijack, but when i installed my cefiros, my fogs stopped working all-together. I checked all the fuses, and thats not the problem. I also checked all the connections for shorts, but couldnt find any. Anyone know what could be causing my problem?? Input greatly appriciated!

-thanks

I just installed the cefiros in my car too. I am not exactly sure what to wire that city light thing too, it looks like the 194 bulbs. How can I wire it so that it comes on with the parking lights? I can't add it to the parking light, i would blow the fuse.

Nevermind, I tapped the power into the corner lights and then grounded on the side bolt of the car next to the fuse box. This way they light when the parking lights do... and I don't loose any brightness either. Good idea tho to bump up the 7.5 amp to 15 amp.

I see all of these cefiro's on i30's, but all of their turn signals are yellow. I think yellow looks aweful. Are they yellow because you cannot change them, or are they yellow because, thats how other peolpe like them

but can you change the bulbs to maybe like a hyper white, or a blue bulb for the turn signals? if i buy a blue bulb and put it in, it will project the intended color of the bulb right?

my corners had a second set of bulbs in them...other than the big bulbs...there were a set of 194s also.

i cut the harness off of those and spliced it with those that came with the cefiros

Yeah, thats what I want to do, but I dont have the connector to splice on to the 194 wires so I can plug it into the light that is built into the headlight housing. Right now, the 194s are just dangling in the engine bay... they have been like that ever since I put the cefiros in way back in the fall of 2002!!

I am sure that as long as it is coherent, correct, and well written, Mike would surely make it a sticky. Just write it up and PM it to him and see what he says. You should do it so the noobs here and in the 4th gen forum stop posting the question every month.

Can you elaborate on the dremel thing? I am lost on that.

i think the stock 194 harness is too big...maybe you can take some of the mass off of it and just pop it in there...

i dunno...i may have just been talking out of my ***.

Some how I dont think that is going work. I think the only way is to get the right connector.

I installed my cefiros a while back. I went to advance auto parts and got a similar conector to the one for the running lights. I just had to cut them a bit so they would fit inside of hte cefiro ones. You have to splice the cable from your old city lights and conect it to the new socket.
I mean do don't have to, i can just plice the cables and hook them up.

Hmm... so I could just get a generic connector down at advance? I did not know they carried things like that. Hell, I had to drive all over town just to get a basic 5/32 vacuum t piece for my mevi install at a hardware store as the auto store NEVER seem to have what I need. Do you happen to have a pic of them so I can narrow down my seach a bit?

I would suggest splicing the wires and connecting the wires to the cefiero headlights...I have a max...and that's what I did. Just cut the stock one off and connect them to the cefiero one...

Yeah, I thought about that, but if I had to remove the headlight I would have to cut the wires again. If all else fails this is what I will do.

I know this isn't the perfect place to post this, but it's close, and I'm restricted for some reason.

Re: JDM Cefiro headlights,

Do these have a plastic lens? It looks like it in most shots.. I'd love to get some glass lenses as my heads are foggy.. even with plastic polish. Need to do something, though..

thanks,
Chris
