1996 auto infiniti i30 w/ around 138K
well i got my started replaced about 3 months ago,
and ever since then, my cars been acting pretty strange.

the idle is real low and the needle keeps wandering. after driving on the freeway and such, at a stoplight, the car dies on me and the dummy lights come on.
cleaned the TB a few weeks ago and it got better but now the problems are back. did not clean the IACV or MAF

a few months ago i also had a EGR CEL,
could it be the egr? or vacuum leak? MAF? IACV? tPS?

 

it could be a ton of other things that could be causing it too. maybe low fuel pressure linked up to a bad fuel filter and possible all of the other things that you've mentioned. low rpms at idle...suspected that your maf is giving out. when your engine dies out, that check engine light should always come up. You need one of those code readers to find out what killed the engine or whats causing it to idle so bad. Otherwise its gonna be one hell of a time dedicating yourself into fixing and cleaning various parts parts of the engine; and possibly not finding the main problem.

Get a code reader and then search the 5thgen forum boards for the DIY post for replacing that busted or defective part. Good luck

 

I had the same problem, it was my fuel sensor. It wasn't sending enuogh gas at low rpm's and the car would just die. At first I just had to restart it, but then it wouldn't restart for another 5-10 mins.... then it wouldn't restart at all and I had to tow it.
