New A33 I30/I35 Headlights

I don't get why you're defending something that's admittedly unsafe. Simply because it hasn't happened yet? I can think of several examples where that logic would be very flawed..
By the way, if you find yourself coming towards a vehicle whose headlights are very bright or whose high beams are on, the trick is to not look directly at the lights but to look to the right side of the road. I learned that back in Driver's Ed in the tenth grade.
Still doesn't change the fact that it's uncomfortable and dangerous (anytime you can't see when you're traveling at speed, in my opinion, is dangerous).

Well I think it's safe to say we have a difference of opinion, nothing wrong with that.
As to why I feel the way I do, it's because I own my own business as well, and I wouldn't like it if someone started claiming my product was a safety hazard without substantiating that claim. I don't know if they are or aren't SAE approved, but I don't think it's fair to say for sure unless you have a reliable source. There are a pair of these selling on ebay, I asked the seller that question he hasn't responded yet. If they aren't SAE or DOT approved, then I wouldn't buy them no matter what the beam pattern looks like. I'm just saying the beam pattern shouldn't be the deciding factor on safety, the SAE (or USDOT) seal of approval should be, not yours mine or anyone else's opinion.

Obviously you have your opinion and I have mine, and nothing is going to change that.
And for the record, my point about headlights being unsafe isn't restricted to these headlights. I was speaking in a broader, more general sense in terms of headlights that have poor beam patterns, blinding/glaring light, and folks that plant HID capsules into them.
Well I understand your point about retrofitting HIDs into housings that weren't designed for HID output, but that was not what I was thinking when I originally said "beam pattern shmeam pattern" because I don't have HIDs. So for me the pattern is a non-issue. However, what IS an issue is that the guy who is selling these on eBay said they are neither SAE nor DOT approved.
and I really wanted to get these, oh well.

Wanna think twice?

AS far as the hotspots go... thats actually the patters for other cars.. not all havet he TL like flat across and angle up and then continue flat.... i think BMW has it like that on the early 3 with projectors.. im not shure.. and the hotspot may be becuase the wall there using is dirty ont eh bottom... and it depends how close the car is to the wall... even BMW projectos have a hotspot when parked up aganist a wall right where the arc is.
SO mabey some pics with parked furter away would be right... mabey just 1 porjecteor instead of bootleg q45...
but overall.. there nice.. but yea.. they do give of a bit of Ebay. max projectors.. then again.. alot of people have those..

Yeah, like I said before, that beam pattern looks almost exactly like my stock non-HID headlights do. Hotspot and all.
But I have to say these don't look like the normal el-cheapo eBay projectors. These look niiiiiiiiiice. Especially the blacked-out ones. Looks very similar to what a lot of '06-'07 high-end cars' headlights look like.

That's a poorly designed headlamp. I say gut out the lowbeam 'projector' and swap it out w/ a HID projector that works like it should and you'd have a hot headlamp swap on your hands.

Here's a picture of the Q45 projectors retrofitted into another car. (Canadian Toyota Echo) Notice the size of the projectors? Huge, right? Only tall headlamps can accomidate the massive Q45 projector.

Look at the pics and then look at the front of your car. The answer should be obvious.

And a D2R bulb won't be any better than an H1 bulb because the projector is still teh sux00rz.
