This thread has shown me how little I know about headlights and the bulbs that go in them. I was just happy to get HIDs from the factory when I bought my I35.

So this is a newbie question but for the 400+$ you pay you get 2 brand new headlights that look super spiffy and have brighter bulbs than your factory HIDs?

Am I missing anything here?

I know the stock I35 headlights only have HID lowbeams I could see the use in having HID highbeams as well but my stock highbeams are good enough for now that I wouldent pay much to get HID highbeams. I have never outdriven my highbeams even at 130+ mph so it seems like this would mainly be a style mod. Please correct me if I'm worng.

At 130 mph you are outdriving your headlights. I gaurantee if something came out of the dark at that speed you would either 1. Hit it. or 2. End up in the ditch wishing you hadn't been so foolish. I like to drive fast and do it often but NEVER in the dark. Too dangerous.

So you would say that everyone who drives on the autobahn at night is constantly out driving their headlights? Ever since I met people from europe who drive at a "cruising speed" of around 120-140 on the autobahn I really have had a different perception of speed.

Remember most of those drivers ed videos that you watch when getting your license were made 20 or more years ago and I can see why out driving your headlights was a big issue then, my fog lights alone light the road better than my buddies headlights in his 89 mustang (he might as well not have headlights) He seriously out drives his headlights, in my opinion, at any speed greater than a crawl. Headlights on american cars even 10, 15 years ago were horrible only now are they starting to catch up only because people demand more of american cars as they've gotten used to some of the luxuaries the imports have provided.

I think if theres any reason not to go above 100 in america its because american highways arent built as well for speed in general..they werent built to the same standards. The autobahn is something like 2 feet thick!! much thicker than US high ways to prevent frostheaves and other surface irregularities, It is much striaghter meening you can see farther (very important) and there is a maximum number of degrees each corner can turn which is very few and the turns are banked. Where as american highways have tigher turns less straights and the turns dont have to banked. Not to mention at least here in the North East whatever speed your going you better be ready for some uneven pavement. So again headlights arent my concern

I wont get into terminal velocity but I feel once you start moving your car faster than terminal velocity (faster than it would go if it was free falling out of an airplane which is around or a little faster than 130) than your risk factor of loosing control starts to go up expotentially.

But please instead of going into this conversation could someone please answer my original question which was what do you get for the 425$ you pay for this product? Remember I'm a noob to headlights, so you start talkin about H-1 bulbs and what not and I have no idea what your talking about. I know the 6000K 9600K is how hot the bulb is and thus the color of the beam it projects. BTW this is cool and all but anyone else here really want the G35 LED taillights. I think the M35 has them as well. I would much rather have those, very cool lookin!

First off I you would not get better light output/ beam pattern than the stock HID's with these headlights. They are designed for halogen bulbs which are not as bright, and even with HID the beampattern would not be as good as stock.

Also these are not Bi-xenon headlamps. There is a seperate halogen reflector for high beams (as with the stock A33 lamps). Only way for better output and Bi-xenon is to retrofit some nice, Bi-xenon projectors.

Also just because an HID bulb has a higher COLOR temperature does not mean it is brighter. The brightest automotive HID bulbs are the 4300K or somewhere around there. An 8000k bulb will actually have less useable output than the 4000k bulbs.

Holy sh*t talk about a whole lot of irrelevant information.

Listen to Newlove, he hit the nail on the head.

Additionally, high-beam HIDs would be a serious waste on our cars (equipped with 9005 high-beams). The whole concept of flashing them and starting them up instantly wouldn't work too well with the ballasts, bulbs, etc. in a HID setup. Bi-Xenon projectors work because they shift the light upward rather (from the already lit HID capsule) than light up a separate capsule for high-beams only.

You get an A33 I30/I35 style headlamp with a Q45 style projector using an H1 style halogen headlight bulb, with the city light moved to the other side. However, the projector looks cool but its output is not up to par with our OEM headlights.

Thanks.... But.. please don't put these information on VQPower....

They "look" nice.. but after testing on few cars.. I decided to drop this one.. because.. I am in Asia right now working on a better set of headlights for A33:

Dual Halo Angel lights
Low Beam Projector/ High Beam halogen
Possible in both Black or Clear housing...

Thanks in advance for your help.

Question: Did you drop these soley because you're working on a better looking housing, or did you also drop them because after testing them their quality sucked?

I ask because the clear ones are selling on eBay for like $365 shipped. (I don't know why the black ones are $75 more, they look like the exact same thing except black) But I'll wait if you're saying the new ones look better AND the ones shown in this thread are poor quality headlights.

hey you shouldn't hijiack any threads, or you might get banned again. Yes, any D2R bulbs will work in our headlights, but installing is a pain. You'll need to remove the fog lights, and then 3 screws for the headlight, one of which is hidden and requires you to go underneath the car to find it.

The outout is poor.. and you can't see jack sh*t..... even with HID...
I don't want to ruin my reputation selling poor products.

Price was high because I was getting the price quote from the 1st Batch production when they first came out. Now they aren't selling at all.. therefore you got lowered prices from your suppliers/vendors.

haha...that was a smart idea...and to answer your question...I noticed that amber part of the signal lights, but couldn't find a picture that looked the same as this one. All I know is that the chrysler is the closest bid to this headlight.
