New I30 owner checking in
Just picked up a 99 I30 yesterday. I've now owned a 90 SE, 2002 SE, and the I30. Only a couple generations of maxima missing from my list. Anyway here's the details.
1999 Autumn Bronze I30
Beige Leather
Sunroof
Bose/Single Disc
Heated Seats
Electro Mirror
and......
ONLY 57,000 miles
Only a couple little issues to fix, but nothing that will keep it off the road.

Picked it up today.
Question - Do you think Nissan/Infiniti will give me any hassle about TSB's ? I have two I am experiencing. The 50mph "jerk" and the water in the trunk when it's been raining.
Man I love this car, it feels so huge compared to the GTO.....

hey, I just wanted to let you know that i30's have this weird performance feature built into the ecu that 4th gen maximas don't have, it's called "delayed key ignition advance". It's kind of complicated, but basically, if you leave the key in the car overnight it will run better.....

Hi!
I am a new I-30 owner too, though mine's 1997. Just bought it about a week ago. I noticed that my I-30's dash is different than Mr. Zog's. Are the 1999's dash different than the 1997's? Or it's just because mine's an Indonesian right-hand-drive version? (I'm in Jakarta, Indonesia.)
BTW the FAQ was wrong in saying that the I30 can only be found in USA/Canada. Mine was most certainly an Infiniti I30, and not a Cefiro, though it's sold by Nissan. There's no Infiniti as a brand here, the I-30 was just a model in the Nissan lineup.
Other differences as far as I can tell, besides the dash shape and right hand drive, are the climate control panel (the manual mentions & has pictures of both the right and left hand drive version of the panel, and they're quite different. I wonder why?) and mine has no fog lights (just the cornering lights) and no sunroof (No need, we got more sun that we know what to do with here! Too much already!)

Congrats on the purchase. It's funny that there would be differences. I don't think the dash was changed much throughout the 4th gen, so they probably just got a different dash in other countries, though I have no idea either way.

Thanks!
You know, I don't quite remember what the 4th gen Maxima's dash looked like but I think that might've been the one that's in my car. I'll post picture when I've taken them. Any good place to upload pictures to that's free?

Probably does. My poor car was a lease vehicle, so of course whoever owned it didn't really give a rats azz. I'm getting her in shape one step at a time.
So far:
New clock.
New Cig. lighter.
Removed the POS cell phone mounting crap.
To come:
Plugs
Tranny fluid.
Coolant.
Fuel Filter.
Full brake job.
CD/MP3/Sat. radio.
Subs.
Paint to fix the blemishes.
Cefiro headlights.
And I'm sure something will break/go bad by christmas.

Yeah, that's expected when buying vehicles of this age, I guess.
Mine needs:
- Hood supports
- Left side marker light.
- H.U. is crap. Replaced with double-din TV unit...
- Power antenna.
- Tinted glass film all replaced.
- Windshield is distorted, needs to be replaced (removed the tinted film and the distortion is still there!). Still looking for a reasonably-priced replacement.
- Who knows what else. Here's hoping there's nothing else!
Thankfully labor is extremely cheap here, though original parts can be dear. But might still be cheaper than in the U.S.
I got mine for about $6.800 (Rp. 62.000.000). Body is in great shape, no rust that I can see, even underneath trunk lining (and here in the tropics-by-the-sea, rust is prevalent, though not as much as salt-encrusted Midwest). VQ is very smooth too, and engine bay is very clean, like new. Maybe just great detailing, I don't know. But it's not as fast as I thought it would be. Maybe the injectors need cleaning.
