Transmission w/traction control QUESTION??
Transmission w/traction control QUESTION??
I was just wondering if you guys could help me out...I need a new tranny for my I35 and I need one with traction control. I was wondering if THE TRACTION CONTROL IS DONE THROUGH THE ABS SYSTEM AND THE ENGINE and NOT THE TRANS. Could I just purchase any transmission or do I have to purchase a tranny w/ it. I'm a little confused about the whole situation...
I don't think that the actual transmission has anything to do with it.
All of control is done through the ECU and ABS system. It could possibly use the signal from the speed sensor, but that is present whether you have TCS or not.

Check the part numbers, but I believe the same auto transmission used in 02-03 Maximas was also the exact same transmission in the 02-04 I35s, regardless of the presence of TCS or VDC, if so equipped.
And I'm in agreement with oldgivout; I don't think the trans has anything to do with TCS.

The ecu kills the ignition based on information from the wheel sensors. ps, I shut that crap off everytime I get in the car, I hate that damn tcs, not because it slows you down and gets you stuck in the snow easier, but if you ever have the tires try to break loose at 30mph because someone tries to pass you right before a lane merger and you floor it, you'll understand why tcs blows.

well the vdc has traction control also, what happened to me was when I floored it going that fast and the tires tried to break loose the whole car started VIOLENTLY jerking, I mean REALLY REALLY VIOLENT! It was horrible, my first reaction should have been to let off the gas, but it wasn't, instead I actually looked at the tach and it was bouncing up and down between 4-6K so fast that I'm suprised the needle didn't break off! It felt so bad that if this thing has tranny problems down the road I know it will be because of that, it felt so bad on the tranny that I could have done 20 rollbacks and I know it wouldn't have been as bad as what happened. I hope no one else ever experiences that, and that's why I always shut the tcs off.
