Like my new wheels? (Photochop)

I posted this in 5th gen, but wanted to get some valuable Infiniti-only feedback as well!

I want non-chrome wheels for my I35 (in 17" stock size), so a friend gave me a set of stock IS300 wheels. I have not mounted them yet, but did a photochop to see how they would look. Your thoughts?

...Uh...have you had the hub bored out larger in diameter to fit?

Lexus/Toyota wheels have a smaller hub bore and won't fit on Nissan hubs without them being machined larger...

And while I do like IS300 wheels, I like the stock sport wheels better than IS300 wheels.

No =( I didn't realize their were so many wheel variables. I thought if the bolt pattern and offsets were compatible, and the wheel was the same size (17 x 7) it would fit. Hmm

That's all you usually need to consider on aftermarket wheels, since they usually have a LARGE hub bore and utilize hub centering rings inside them to fit a large variety of vehicles.

You run into hub bore issues on OEM wheels because the manufacturer never intended for them to be used on another make (vehicle).

Nissan's hub bore diameter is 66.1mm, that's what you'd need to get the wheels machined out to.

Here's a thread about it; concerns a third gen but hub bore issues are the same:

That $hit happened to me when I bought a set of Acura MDX wheels for my wife's Hyundai Santa Fe. I bought tires and everything and when I took them to the mechanic they told me they wouldn't fit
I LEARNED MY LESSON THAT DAY!
To my surprised I ended up making a profit selling them on ebay and bought a set of aftermarket wheels that look like the ones in the new Lexus RX450

I like the stylling of those Lexus rims better, but what are you gonna do about the emblem?

The emblem pops off (centercap)

I contacted a local machine shop and they said they can bore the Lexus wheel from 60.10mm centerbore to 66.10mm for $20 per wheel.

Sound fair? If so, I'm going to go ahead and do it. $20/wheel is much cheaper than purchasing new wheels.

Ask about any future vibrating problems before you go ahead and do it.

$20/wheel is a fair price.

Be sure to read through the linked thread though. It covers some issues you want to address with the machine shop.

Shoot...$60 bucks for four new (to you) wheels isn't bad at all. Be sure to post some pics once they're mounted. If you can, it would be sweet to see some before & after pictures of the rims getting bored.
