? On Rotors

I Was Wondering If Any Of You Guys Have Bought Cross Drilled/ Slotted Rotors Off Ebay. If You Have How Are They (good/bad, Were They Warpped Or Did You Have No Problems At All)

Check the group buys forum.

I ordered rotors and pads from Automax_95 and was very satisfied with the prices, products and service. He has blanks, slotted, drilled, and slotted/drilled available. I chose the Brembo slotted, but if I had to do it over again Id just go with Brembo blanks. I think the rotors are important, but the pads might be even more important.

Search around for opinions on blanks vs. slotted OR x-drilled vs. slotted AND x-drilled, then check out the group buys in the forum.

I wouldn't buy any cross-drilled period. Not fun seeing the stress cracks develop between the holes.

If I were you, I'd do as the others have suggested and read up.

My other suggestion would be to get either slotted or blanks, and get the cheapest you can find.

Even the most expensive stock-sized rotor will warp. Also choose pads carefully, as the OEM pads seem to contribute to the warping too.

I'm using 6th gen front rotors and calipers though and couldn't be happier.

cross drilled can crack. Go with slotted.

I bought crossdrilled no name frmo a guy on Ebay. I actually bought the brembo and when I went to go pick them up the guy didnt have them and claimed he wasnt getting them. So I went no name cross drilled and they really suck and I have really good pads. They squeek and make noise all the time and are warped after 5-6 months. Make sur eyou go brembo if anything . A buddy of mine has them on his maxima and they have not gave him any troubles.

The Brembo OE replacement rotors will warp just as easily as any other rotor (5th gen forums have shown that). Do yourself a favor and save some money. They're all metal and pretty much all made in China regardless of the brand name.

Squealing sounds like your pads either weren't bedded properly or that you didn't have anti-squeal lube applied to the shims on the pads.

I've been really happy with the EBC slotted & dimpled rotors with their "red stuff" pads.

I'm frequently abusive on them and they're still strong after 2 years & 30K miles. Dust isn't bad either.

The only downside is some "wooshing" noise like a fan blade up close that one gets used to after awhile.

Go to tirerack.com and get the brmebo sports slotted rotors. Those unlike brembo blanks wont warp. Ive had em on my second akebono pro act pads and they are soo freakin sweet. i stop on a dime. i can stop so hard my sunroof shade will close 3/4 of the way and that still didnt warp em. They are carbon/iron instead of completely iron like the oe blanks. They are 178 though but well worth it. Ive even made em chirp the abs. hehe still running strong and not warped =)

I think the rotors on my I30 are warped due to vibration in the wheel when breaking at high speeds. I was checking out those Brembos and Tirerack and they are pricing. Does anyone know anything about the ATE rotors?

It's more likely your choice of pads rather than the rotor that's prevented the warping. The Akebonos you have are ceramics...those are tons better than the OEM pads that seem to go hand in hand with warp-age.

Frequently, on these cars, warping is due to pad material transfer to the rotor making it uneven, and "warped." Other contributing factors are their small size and that they overheat.

I put e-bay d&s front rotors (yes, they were brembo cores) on my moms old '99 w/factory pads, that thing stopped so quick, I'm not gonna lie, I used to hammer that car and i miss those brakes, I don't think they miss me though.

ive bought ebay drilled and slotted rotors b4 for previous cars and the rotors cracked. I know its because it was drilled but ive been sold on the akebono pro acts for a long time. really reliable if you want to stop but they do dust up the wheels so frequent car cleanin would be advisible. But these bembo sports havent warped in contrast to the 3rd party CAD drilled or slotted brembo blanks...yea the brembo is pricey but its one of my best investments.... and ive thrown money away at my car...lol....its stop and go... we all know our cars can go we just need it to stop!

Glad you've had a good experience. I've used my fair share of EXPENSIVE rotors just to have them all warp. I'm through with that. I just use ceramic pads and the cheapest rotors I can find.

Oh, and 12.6" rotors and larger calipers help too
