I got the starter kit from Matty back in Jan. '06.

Here is the SC plate with the nickle coating

Here are the blower bolts, thermostat housing gasket, thermostat, oil drain back plate, pully, modified thermostat housing, SC plate bolts and lock washers.

Got these a couple of months ago: Walbro 255 lph fuel pump, fuel pump strainer, Cattman MAF flange (yes its metal).

Got all the vorthech goodies a couple of weeks ago: Vortech blow off valve, BOV flange, BOV gasket and screws, Vortech FMU w/ 8.1 disk, Stealthmode Performance oil feed adaptor, Vortech 3.6 6 rib pully

Awesome stuff! I had no idea this turbo existed. Any speculation on what the final performance gain will be?

It's actually a centrifugal supercharger.

only a 3.60 pulley?? Did you buy that supercharger unit direct from vortech? if you did why not get the t trim? I was pretty close to getting a T trim but i couldn't justify spending another 1200 to upgrage. I have a feeling you are going to be itching for more boost. i know i am and i've only had the setup working perfect for a couple of months. I've been really thinking about selling the SC setup for a different project.

Probably gonna still be a while. This project is not like buying a used stillen kit that comes with everything that you need. I still need to make my oil feed line, figure out the intake piping, and hook the extra fuel lines, vacuum lines, and the power steering lines.

So, conservitavely speaking, I would say another 2 months. I think winter break is probably the only time I am going to have to do this until summer... so we will see.

Don't worry, I not stopping there. I plan to dyno, then upgrade pully, then dyno, then upgrade pully... so on and so on. I want this to be well documented.

Quote: ...Did you buy that supercharger unit direct from vortech? if you did why not get the t trim?...
Yup. Vortech wanted an extra $700 for the t-trim so fucc that ****. Besides I like the SQ... super quiet for full sleeper effect.

Absolutely.

Soon. Basically nothing has changed from the pics I have in the members ride section except now I have a new leather steering wheel, an all leather shift **** instead of the crappy AE ****, and of course the new pathfinder radio.

what's that I see written on the bench....... you're estimating 240whp..........

Well, I'm probably 200 whp right now. Maybe 250-260 whp after boost.

Whats written ont the bench, is that somebody else wrote what the maximum bhp I could get out of the VQ30DE while still maintaining NA status. He totalled 260 bhp. I have my doubts about that number. I bet probably like 240 bhp is more like it... which would be like 210 whp NA at the most.

i'm not sure what to do next yet. I'm probably going to get injectors, and a smaller pulley in a week. I have a chance at getting a T trim right now but i'm not so sure i want to stay with the SC. I thought about the turbo but i want to see if the 2.87 pulley meets my needs first. That way i could probably sell the S/C stuff but still have some things to start off for the turbo. When i dynoed N/A i had 209 whp. I had a y pipe, b pipe, mevi, Ts ecu, and udp (i think that was it). I'm sure the car could have put down more than 210. When i did the dyno run the car was only shifting around 6200 since it was an auto ecu.

BTW about the SQ i really don't think the SQ unit is that quite. It still makes enought noise that someone could tell you have a blower. I couldn't imagine how loud a T trim would be.

I think the bigger injectors and the 2.87 pully, which is like 13 psi iirc, will enhance your boost experience greatly.

Are you still running the stock stillen bosch BOV? If so, replacing that with some thing different will enhance the experience as well.

BTW, when I got my order from Vortech a couple of weeks ago, I ordered only 1 BOV, but they sent me 2. What's better, is they only charged me for 1, so I basically have an extra BOV for sale. Its just like the one in the pic. I'd let it go REAL cheap just to help out a fellow I30 owner. They are like $250 new.

209 whp is really excellent NA. I just say 210 whp NA MAX for me because hp is a little harder to make up here at 5500 ft.

Right. Matty told me that you can still hear the blower, but is no where near the level of noise that the t trim produces. He said that one you can hear a block away.

i actually do have a bov right now but i'm not liking it. I have a greddy rs but at my boost levels i can't get it to open completely all the time. For instance not going all the way to redline still seeing about 5 psi the bov will not open all the way and i get some surge. Shifting down low seeing no bosst i get surge. I put it on another car to make sure everything work and he didn't get the thing to open up all the way till he saw at least 10psi, and this is still set on the softest setting. Pm me a price for the vortech one i'm willing to try another one. do you know if this bov will fit on the greddy flange because it looks really similar

It uses the same flange as greddy and hks so it should bolt right up. I'll send you a pm on the price.

Yeah this has been quite the project so far. Its mainly the cost. Takes a lot of time to stock plie the cash to purchase the items. It'll be worth it though.

If you don't mind saying, how much, roughly speaking, do you think this entire project will run? I'm sure theres others that have money burnin' a hole in their pocket....

This will make some of you **** your pants...

Estimated cost is $4500. The blower makes up $2000 of that and the matty starter kit was $1400. The BOV was $250, FMU was $175, pully $50, walbro fuel pump was $100, oil feed line is going to run $75, intake piping, couplings, and clamps- $150, maybe another $50 in PS hose, fuel, and vacuum line, $50 for air filter, and maybe $250 for the boost, fuel pressure, and AF ratio gauges.

Keep in mind that you can do this for much much less. You could get the matty kit for $1400, get a used V1 blower from ebay for $800 and the BOV and FMU used from ebay was well. Get everything else brand new and skip the gauges (not a good idea), I bet you could pull it off for $2500 or less.

Some guys just like to buy stuff used, which can be unreliable. However, it costs less and so the project gets completed more quickly as there is less of a cash flow situation. This method work outs fine for some... others are not so lucky. There was a guy on the boosted forum that bought a used ebay blower that was listed as recently rebuilt by vortech, but it leaks oil when he installed it.

Me on the other hand I like to buy my stuff brand new. Since new stuff is more expensive, the project takes longer as I have to wait longer to save up the money. That is how I justify buying new stuff in my mind. If I did not save the money for the boost project, I would have just blown the money on bullsh!t anyways. So what difference does it make?

I got in on a few bid wars on ebay for V2 blowers, but the bidding would always get up into the $1200-$1300 range by some mustang s. This happened about 3 times. If I bought used, I would need it to get rebuilt by Vortech which runs $500-$800. So, best case senario, I was looking at saving $300 through the ebay route. I decided to wait a little longer and just get a new one instead.

Well, I've been sitting on a completed kit since early December. My plan was to install it during winter break... we usually have some nice days in Denver during the winter... But 70'' of snow over the past seven weaks basically put the install on hiatus.

I never seen so much God damn snow here in all my life. The daily temp. high has not gotten above 35 during this time... most of the time is in the 20s or teens.

Installing stuff is half the fun in my opinion... it's hard to enjoy yourself when you're freezing your nutts off.

Ahh yes, I know what you mean. My friends dad lives in CO and Im told it hardly snows where he lives. Now this year theres crazy storms crippling cities. Its the exact opposite up here, we have had a late start and very few storms.

Just keep us updated, I look forward to your setup.

Wow still sitting on this kit. I've had my fun with my kit and now i'm selling it. Sucks i just got that bypass valve from you not too long ago. I ended getting a 2.62 pulley worked fine no belt shredding issues. The power was just ok, i think too many rides in Jeeve's car left me wanting more. Good luck with your install i hope you have fun with it.

I wish some of that Denver snow would come over here in Omaha. We've gotten a couple inches here and there, but nothing like you guys.

Do you have your own garage to work in at least?

Yeah, but it still gets cold in that garage, and nothing sucks more than working on a car in the cold. I have no problem with heat what so ever. I'd rather sweat my @ss off than freeze my a$$ off.
