wind noise

I'm just wondering if anyone else on here has heard horrible wind noise from the doors...mainly on the top. Did you guys buy replacement weatherstripping if it's sold anywhere?

Edit***I did a search and saw it's a common problem and i doubt i can go in for a tsb fix bc the car is so old, but what did any of you do for a remedy?

I have the same problem. It only happens though when it is a very strong wind and when it is coming from the front-side (drivers or passenger side, and does not happen on direct front wind). I believe it is just the design of the car. Yet I dont't have the dirt/wind shields that go on the front bumper (I haven't had them for a while and don't remember if it made that noise before.) The weather stripping would have to be pretty bad to cause a major or even minor noise. Oh and also check your body panels for bad fitment and check the hood that it does not have any "play" in it. My hood has bad hood height alignment pieces and I've considered that it may be the problem (the hood shakes up and down from wind on the highway because those pieces are shot.) I'm getting new ones and they're pretty cheap. I hope this gave you some ideas but it is also possible it is just the design of the car. I'll ask if I30DS if he has had this problem with his infiniti (he hasn't said anything, but I know him and he wouldn't say something was wrong even if his car blew up). It definetly sucks and the noise can get loud! Good luck to you and hopefully to me.

thanks a lot for those ideas, i'll have to check them out later on. i'm sure you've also noticed the sound coming from the wheel well area...especially on a rainy day. that sound is so annoying when the radio isn't on too. also, have you ever noticed the air coming from the pedal area? i was wearing shorts one time the other day and it was cold out, and i felt a slight breeze and my hvac down at the leg region was not turned on..do you get this?

I have a similar problem. I am not sure if this is the same issue for the 97's (seeing as how I have a 01'). But, take a look at the weather stripping for the rear passenger doors (when you open the door, the rubber seals that channel water out) These seals have a tendency of riding up, kinda like mini skirts :P, so just pull it down to its original position, and the sound (if thats whats causing it) will dissapear.

As for the breeze comming through, check if the rubber seal on your firewall is still there. It might have not been replaced properly when (and if) you put a system in.. if you have one.

-Cheers.

thanks, i will check. i did notice when i looked at the car from a head-on view, the rear passenger doors weren't at the same closeness to the car compared to the front doors (it's weird to explain)

I've constantly have got the HOT FOOT! From what i can tell, is if you have the heater controls on high even if the automic climate control is turned off (assuming you have the automatic climate control, which your should have,) The heater will still blow hot air out that opening near your driving foot. Too solve; turn your heater control to the lowest setting 65 degrees. Even with the system turned off it will still blow air that is at the previous setting. It sounds crazy but if you turn down the heater controls, even when it is off it wil make a difference. Hope that helps. It has ticked me off my self!

I had the same problem when I bought mine. It's a really easy fix. You just have to add a small piece of foam tape to the upper corner of each window seal on the rear windows. You can do the front ones too if you like. It takes all of about ten minutes to do and you can get the foam tape from an auto parts store or Loews, Home Depot, etc. Check this link http://www.infinitihelp.com/Ownershi.../ITB01-022.htm
