02 I35: New rattle at 1700 rpms until tranny shifts

Ive owned the car for roughly one month without problems. The oil was changed at 39K miles one week ago to 5W-20 Syntec along with a new filter. The oil level is fine; near the H on the dipstick. I noticed a new rapid vibration / rattle today as the rpms hit 1700 rpms until the transmission shifts around 2000 - 2100 rpms, regardless of the gear. I don't drive the car hard; moderate acceleration. The vibration is not apparent below 1700 rpms. The car was completely warmed up as it had been driven all day. I could not pinpoint the location to the engine or the transmission. I put on brand new Kumho KH16 tires this morning; 40 miles passed until I noticed the noise. I don''t think the tires have anything to do with the noise. Any suggestions on what I should check? Any thoughts as to what could be causing the vibration / rattle?

Regards,

James

This is a common problem! I'm driving a second Maxima(i30) A33 and i'm having the same rattling noise(between 1700-2300rpm) on both cars. Mostly hapens when going up hill... I'm not sure, but probably our coils are getting bad...

Check the heat shields, mine was doing this until I tightened the bolts on the heat shield.

If it were the coils you would be experiencing stuttering.
