Question about Auto's

as most of you know there that the 00' I30 auto are set up like this

What i want to know is what does the 1 and 2 do?....I put it on 2 today and it seemed like is accelerated alot better.....what is it exactly for?

They are just to keep the car in that gear. I will use first if I am stuck in really bad traffic where I never get above 10mph. Keeps the car from shifting up and down.

i used second gear in teh rainzorz today and it seemed to not lose traction

Its not a matter of traction. Leaving the transmission in a lower gear slows the vechicle down quicker with less braking than leaving it in a higher gear. That's why a lot of people use 1st or 2nd gear for driving in slick conditions.

when i had a autotragic i used the 1 and the 2 for the snow to keep me in those gears for traction.

they're used to haul around heavy loads. if u put them in those gears for no reason ur tranny will be damaged

That is completely false. Even in 'D' the transmission still uses 1st, 2nd, etc... that is the whole concept behind an automatic transmission. It does not just automatically start in 3rd.

I understand that not everybody can be car savy, but if you don't understand the concept of a transmission using gears, then maybe you should not be driving.
