2000 I30 Gauge/Instrument/Speedometer/Cluster LED
I am thinking of changing to either orange or blue LEDs, I checked out www.autolumination.com, but there are so many types, I don't know which 1 to get, does anyone know? Also, are the gauge clusters with and without TCS interchangeable?

Two weeks ago while i was replacing my speedometer and odometer units..., noticed that the cluster has just one long and tubby light, not like Maxima's cluster, which has more bulbs for lightning the gauges... I'm talking about the main light!
Get the nice i35's cluster and you'll be fine

The gauge clusters for the 2000+ I30 and the I35s are lit by a flourescent tube bulb as brio_max mentions above. This is the only bulb that lights the cluster. Converting this to LEDs would take some major effort.
The I35 cluster does look better than the I30's, however there is some rewiring that you will need to do in order to make everything work in the I30. I've researched doing this myself, but I'm not that great with wiring. If you just tried plugging the I35 cluster in without rewiring, I think all that will be wrong is the drive indicator. I think everything else will work OK, but I could be mistaken. Compare the wiring diagrams for the two cars and you will see exactly what needs to be done.
If you do this, post when you're done - I would be curious to hear about what you had to do to make it work.

Damn, thanks for the heads up, good thing I didn't buy anything yet. I thought it was just tiny bulbs, but flourescent tube does make sense, our I's feature electroluminicent(?) gauges, whereas the Maximas do not.
My current gauge functions perfectly fine, I just like the blue or orange look better than green, but if it's out of my ability to mod it, then I will leave it alone.
How much better are the I35 gauges? I notice the difference in design, but the color and output is the same right? I wonder if G35 gauges would work, or at least use parts from it to transfer over.

Swapping over to the I35 cluster might give the look some of you are looking for.
One of the 5th gen guys who swapped to the I35 cluster mentioned that if you swap the lens off the cluster with that of the Maxima (the lens is completely clear) that the lighting gets whiter, and that the greenish tinge that exists (on the I35) is due to the lens on the I35 cluster being slightly tinted. Might be a fun project for some of you I30 guys or I35 guys wanting a little whiter light. IIRC, when I checked, the lens for the Maxima cluster was only $20-30.

If you are looking for that Acura white look, you wont get it by doing this alone. Some day I may just completely take apart the cluster and see if the bulb is something that can be replaced.

Can you see your cluster with the car off? I like how it looks blank(black) when the car isn't on. Does swiching the lens like this take that away?

So can the I35's swap their guage lights with a White LED from autolumination since we dont have the "tube"? What LED's have been confirmed to work?
Quick question... Has anyone swapped the climate control bulbs or bose radio to a different color? I heard of a direct replacement for the climate control bulb, but not aftermarket.
Thanks!

As for the CC and Radio lighting, there are some write-ups in the 5th gen forum that detail how to change the color of the lighting. Beware, it's involved, and it's not a drop-in affair.

What are you talking about? From my understanding there is in fact a CCFL tube in there (cluster).

I'm going to be replacing some of my console trim and wanted to see if there was anything else I could do while swapping. I'm swapping the clock bulb so why not the other stuff too?
Thanks

Hi, i have an 03 max, all the bulbs in the cluster lit up at night and the dimmer switch is working but the cluster is very dim, the infinity I30 and I35 cluster are way brighter, can you tell me if i can get either one of them to fit ? Thank you.
