is this true?

Is this true that when your mass air flow sensor goes your engin elight doesnt come on?

I put on a bad MAF and it threw a check engine light.

It may or may not come on, I've read some 5th gen posts where it did not come on, but replacing their MAFs fixed the problem.

Ok finally got it, do I need re-rpogram?

Ok I got my mass air flow sensor. I am going later this week to the steelership to get it installed. What upgrades do i need to get ECM or ECU? Are these the same? I really am unsure on this.Any help would be great!Thanks
