It's spring, time to change you in-cabin filter!

I finally took the time to change my in-cabin filter, and after 24,xxx miles, it was filthy. I had leaves in the filter housing, and more leaves, dust, bugs stuck on the filter, see pictures below. Putting back my glovebox was a b*tch, because I couldn't get the right tab aligned correctly, lots of force and 1 hr later all is well.

The crap that came out when I took out the old filter:

And the old filter:

Look at all the stuff stuck in the filter! Glad it caught and I wasn't breathing this stuff:

And the tab I was talking about:

Before any n00bies ask, install instructions here

And you can get the filter through your local Nissan/Infiniti dealer, or better Dave B, Courtesy Parts, or even eBay. Retail is $40-50, I bought my OEM Nissan off eBay for $20.

I'll have to check my Infiniti service records, I think mine was changed just before I bought the car but if not I'll definately have to change it.

Damn, so what can us A32 owners do about an in-cabin filter, since apparently it doesn't come stock?

I just got my filter from ebay yesterday and I installed it in my I30 today. I didnt get as much leaves and dirt as depicted in n3985 post. however mine was pretty black and dusty.

The ones that i got from ebay werent the same as the one that I pulled out from my I30. I got two filters that equals the same size as the original one that i pulled out and they fit perfectly; as a matter of fact quite nicely than the OE one. I guess nissan switched them up a bit. Hope this new design will clean the air better

i just changed my cabin filter for a 2004 maxima and there was nut shells in the filter, the grimiest dirt, dust, leaves, and more nut/peanut shells. it was disgusting. i recommend everyone change it if you haven't it is really easy. open your glove box. push i out from the left and right and it will hang and the filter is right there really easy. i was shocked on how nasty mine was. i turned on the ac and there was this smell it used to blow out now that smell is gone. i got my filter from this place mr auto pepboys nor autozone had it. i paid 29 dollars but i didnt care i wanted to change it. good thread
