regarding compression test

I just fixed a starter that went out and car is back to normal ...

meanwhile, I have been thinking abt getting a compression test done on my car ... it's like 'how come normal civics catch up on freeway or stoplight faster than me' kinda feeling that i get sometimes ... i just don't feel the 190 horses v6 power that i felt when i bought the car 3 years ago ... i'll check the ecu codes this evening to see if the knock sensor is calling ...

anyways, is the compression sthg that we can do ourselves, any pointers appreciated ...

If you want to do it yourself, you'll have to get a compression test tool... remove a spark plug and screw the tool in... release the fuel pressure and then crank away... do it for each cylinder...

Before replacing the knock sensor, you might want to clean the contacts that the sensor makes with the engine first. They are the 2 contacts on the intake manifold (I believe) near the oil fill. I think they are a 9mm bolt with phillips head slot. Actually replacing the knock sensor is a giant pain in the a$$ unless you have an engine monkey to get to it.

You may also want to clean the intake from carbon & greasy build up.

Be careful though, I'm about to start a thread about how I screwed the cleaning process up.
