19x8.5 +38 wheel be flush with the fender?

Like title says, would it be flush? Or need a spacer still? The factory 17x7 is 40mm, and it sits in. I've read that a +35 is the ideal offset for flush fitment?

It should be pretty flush in the rear...might stick out a tad in the front.

Near flush as in 3mm off? According to an offset calculator, the wheels should protrude out 21mm more than my factory wheels.

since you know how to use the offset calculator do this. put a weight on a string and tape it to the apex of your fender. then measure from the stock lip to the string as straight as you can.

Not on an A33.

The front wheels sit wider than the rears [at least visually].

The 25mm spacers on my stock wheels in the rear bring the wheels just about flush.

If I put 25mm spacers on the front they'd stick out more than the rears (they were closer to the outside edge of the fender than the rears were originally).

EDIT: Also, look at all the 5th gens with 18x8, 30mm offset G35 wheels...just about flush in the rear, and the front seems to protrude a bit.

Near flush as in 3mm off? According to an offset calculator, the wheels should protrude out 21mm more than my factory wheels.
Also, you're not going to notice that much difference between 1-3mm in terms of flushness unless you're slammed and the tires are just tucked up under there.

When I say that my wheels are pretty flush, I mean that with 25mm spacers, my rear wheels (7" wide 45mm offset) have an effective offset of 20mm. Compare my setup to the wheel specs you gave and it sticks out 1mm more (and something like 37mm less space inside).

Flushness aside, with a mild drop and 245/35/19 tires, there shouldn't be a chance of rubbing I'm guessing?

Before I ran the 25mm spacers in the rear with my stock wheels and tires I would have said you'd have no chance of rubbing.

However, when I first installed the 25mm spacers, I had my H-Tech springs, which are rated only as a 1" drop. I had substantial rubbing in that instance. Others with similar specs, however, had no problems. YMMV.

FWIW, when I put the rear back to stock height I never rubbed again (though I also had fenders rolled by that point too).

My rims are 40mm offset. As long as you dont go over 1.5" in the rear, you'll be fine. I had no problem with my old H&R's. However, my Ksports caused my tires to rub that body clip between the rear fender and bumper. It occasionally rubbed at about 2.2", raised it to 2.0", still did when I hit big bumps at slower speeds, so now I'm at about 1.8"ish I think, and no rub, but I do have much stiffer springs than normal spring/strut combos...
