Does I30 have storage above the clock?

I've seen a few I30 in parking lots and noticed the trim above the clock differs from my I35. Is this a storage area? It has a release/button above the clock so I'm not sure it's a Nav system. If it is storage can I swap one into my I35?

Thanks!

I don't know if it can be fitted to an I35 or not; but yes, the area above the clock is a storage compartment. I believe if the vehicle was fitted with the Nav system, that's where it went.

I believe that all 3 pockets(I30, I35 and Nav) are interchangeable

Thanks for the info. Anyone have a part number for the storage pocket?

Thanks!

Don't know the part number but make sure you look at parts for 2000 I30's because the 2001's did not have the storage compartment. For some reason it was only available for one year.

It should be 68270-2Y900, but i'm not 100% sure, so you better ask your dealer before you order the pocket!
Good luck

Only 2000 models have this storage pocket. I looked at a few before I bought my '01 and it's not a feature that's really missed. The pocket can't store much of anything.

i know my 2000 i30 has the storage compartment. it's kinda nice to put parking stubs and and stuff in it. originally, it was where the optional nav system went (which i don't have). I think originally, the nav system was supposed to be able to fit in later if you wanted to add it on, but the nav system setup changed, so now it's not possible to do that. the 2001 version might have changed.

The '01 top dash is the same as the I35. No compartment.

Is it big enough to hold either an iPod or a small external hd? I'm thinking of going to a 2 DIN unit & I'm wondering about where to put it. That pocket would be pretty handy.
