'07 G35 or '07 M35?
'07 G35 or '07 M35?
Simple question. Which one of these cars corresponds more to the I35? I ask this because I currently have an I35 but I have to admit that those two infinities look great inside and out. I'm a little concerned about the smaller interior of the G35 compared to what I have now though. I'm thinking of making a change but I really want to stay with Infiniti. Their car design really seems to strike a chord with me for some reason. Which would you choose as a worthy replacement for an I35?
My dad drives an M35 Sport and I had the opportunity to drive a G35 non-sport for a week while my car was being serviced. I must admit, Infiniti has come a very long way in just eight years.
When the I was out, it covered two segments (after the J had been dropped)--the entry level and mid-size segments. It was front wheel drive, and though touted firmer suspension in touring variation, really was not a sports sedan.
That said, neither one of these cars is anything like the I. The G35 is an incredibly balanced, mind-blowing quick car with precise steering, fantastic brakes, tight yet forgiving suspension, and a solid, bulletproof chassis.
The car also feels noticeably heavier and much more planted than do previous Infiniti's.
As for the M, it's much like the G, except larger. Bottom line, you won't want to go back to the I after having spent some time in the G. When I drove my car after having driving the G for a week, I seriously felt like I was going to loose control in corners and that the steering SUCKED. That's just how flimsy it felt.
Go with the G.

The G35 has less space than the I30/35, but not a whole lot less. My personal preference would be one of the new '08s with AWD and the sport package, but an M35x would also be great. Drive both and see which you like better.
Double E, the M45 is pretty bad on gas, just to warn you.
If you want more luxury, which is what the I was, I would say go with the M35. But if you want more sport, then its the G. But you really can't go wrong with either, because the M is pretty sporty in S form also. They are both at the top of their classes.

Niss,
Yep...I figured the documentation was being optimistic.
I've got about a year to go before I'm ready to get out of my I30 and I'll either look at the M45, despite the poor economy, or head in a different direction with a used G and heck, I may even look at a 3.5 Altima. (It will be used whatever I do.)
It depends on when the currently-being-restored '69 Cougar is done and then...how bad I feel about letting the sedan sit outside while the Cougar gets back the spot in the garage.
If I feel really bad, I'll get the Altima because I'll care a little less about its appearance. If not so bad, the M, but I'll hate it for either car...
I know my I30 is getting a lot more worn out looking and has tougher cold starts from being outside all this time...(the 158K miles is probably an issue as well).
I guess that's one factor hawkfan might look at... Also which one comes in a color that is preferred and which will "fit" better with his current "stable".
Overall Hawkfan...I would drive that I35 'till it turns to dust and then consider something else. You're certain to have a good looking and running car for several years and your overall transportation expenses would probably decline during those several years when compared to the upgrade cost of a newer G or M.

Where are you located? If you deal with snow at all you will deff want the X version of either car.
I would say the most natural progression from the I35/maxima drivers is to the G35. The G is a little smaller, but not by much. I think the fact that the G is priced similarly to what the I35s were going for when new helps as well as the fact that the M's are also 10K more expensive.
If you're local to me though we are just starting to get in some preowned M35s off 2 year lease and those cars are great to pick up because they usually have less than 30k miles on them and they are priced the same as a new G35
