Opinion: Should I buy I35 or 5.5genMax?

Hello All,

I've been a 3rd gen Maxima owner since '01 and am thinking to upgrade. I love the look of the R34 Skyline sedan and think the look of the Infiniti I35 comes close. I know mostly about Maximas since I've been on this sight almost every week, and sometimes every day, since '03. I was looking at the 5.5gen Max as well. The thing is, I also want the best sports car performance I can get, so I was wondering- do all the mods that fit on the 5.5Max also fit on the I35? Is it possible, and has anyone here, swapped in a HLSD 6-spd onto an I35? Who has the most performance oriented and modded I35 on here?

Thanks for your help in advance.

In my opinion, It wouldn't be worth the money to do the HLSD 6MT swap to an I35. Just get a 5.5 max with the factory items you want....

Thanks for the frank opinion. Yes, getting a 5.5Max with the options I want would be simplest, but I am also going for the looks of the I35 and the luxury upgrades. So, back to my original question: Is it POSSIBLE to swap in the 6-spd and has it been done?

The issue with the 5.5 gen Max is the rear end. I don't like the "bubble"/"Big Oval" look with those split roundish taillights. I like the I35 rear a lot better.

Anything can be done with $, but in this case probably too much to justify it.

We have a foot operated e-brake, so you'll need modify that back to the regular handle style, which means new center console as well.

Well if you live in a similar market that I live (Norcal),well equipped I35's with less miles are cheaper than GLE Maxima's with more miles and less add-ons (auto), so it was the right choice for me. For you they might be the same or more making the choice more difficult.

Purely from a biased girls point of view. The I35 looks so much sleeker and attention getting than a 5.5 Maxima. I have a black on black one with 350z rims and I love it. If I saw another clean I35 around town, I'd be impressed.

Mrkanda, make a compromise. Get an I35 on Maxima GLE rims

p.s. I35 all the way!

got to agree with people here when i was looking for a maxima i accidently came across this i30. it actually had less miles than the maximas i was looking at had way more options than i would have imgaine so i jumped on this baby. if you want a grown up car that looks incredibly handsome and a car ppl in the streets will be admiring get the i35.. but if you want a lil bit more performance get the maxima.

What size tires are you running? The new pic still looks a little high in the front compared to what I'm used to seeing. Could be an optical illusion though from how the car is framed.
