$800+ for a subwoofer controller?
Guys,
A while back my bass/sub will go out when driving and it seems like a loose connection. When I accelerate or break or turn right or left the bass can come in or go out.
Well, I had some time to kill, I was close and wanted a good chuckle so I went to the dealer. He said that I had a bass controller, part # 28130 24900 that is bad. It would cost something like $824 for it to be replaced.
I cannot find this part number anywhere. Anyone ever heard of ths?
(is there an I HATE BOSE! crew?)
Thanks, Les
also, is the audio setup the same in a Max?

That doesn't surprise me.
Technically, you're getting raped 3 times; once by the Bose name, a second time by Infiniti's markup for selling the Bose product, then a 3rd time by the Infiniti name itself because it's sold as an "Infiniti" part. At that rate, you might as well contact Bose directly for the part.
EDIT: And yes, audio setup is identical in Maxima models equipped with Bose.

Are you listening to CD? If yes then it's very common problem with the headunit and while it could be repaired, the problem will come back and you are better off buying a used HU off eBay or here.

Do you know exactly (physically) what part is the so-called controller?
I know there are some electronics attached to the sub itself...is it something to do with that?
If that's the case, get a used/junkyard pull for a sub or that part and swap it out.

Man, I forgot all about junkyards!
I'm calling Infiniti of Franklin, TN tomorrow. I have heard that they are good ppl. Also I of Chattanooga. Know them? Kind of close to you.
Thanks!

Meta, I do not know exactly what it is called or looks like. I will try and find out. I think it is in the rear deck, not sure about where though.

I don't have any experience with I of Chattanooga, but I can't speak highly enough of Harper Infiniti in Knoxville. The service department is the best I've ever dealt with, bar none.

(some of you may see this same post in the 5th gen pages, I did post twice)
Thanks guys. I think I am going to look into getting it all yanked out and replacing it all.
Maybe an inside insurance job! (I did not really mean that)
edit:I have hearing damage from car stereos back in high school. 4 12" kickers with 1000w Phoenix Gold amp. My hearing sucks. I'm not looking to go all out this time at all.

You'll have to excuse the forum etiquette for posting in such an old thread but I figured this would be a decent place to address the issue I'm having with my sub.
I've been scouring the forum and reading threads about the Bose sub all the way back to 2003 and I have yet to find a thread that accurately represents my problem. It seems a lot of people complain that the sub will cut in and out while using it. On my 2003 I35 however mine will either work or not work from the time I turn the radio on. It doesn't technically cut out, it just won't work from the start. In addition to the sub not working the volume also isn't as loud.
However, the solution is to just turn the radio off and turn it back on. Usually doing it once brings everything back but sometimes I have to do it twice. Doing this means that it will work at least until I turn it off again. I've read about people pushing on wires or hitting bumps or what not and it working but the fact that simply restarting the HU makes me think the problem might be a little different. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? It's more of an annoyance than anything so I'll probably just deal with it if the solution is complicated or expensive but I figured it was worth asking about.
Thanks!

in the rear deck where the sub connects to the car, it does not connect directly to the car theres a small foam and plastic cover circuit board that that the sub is connected to and frem it to the car. take it off and re-solder every of the solderd point. did the job for me. if still dont work trash that circuit board and connect the sub to the car directly
