I just bought a i35 and didnt realize while test driving it that drivers side seat doesnt move at all. It reclines and does everything other than move front and back, does anyone know how i could fix this or anyplace in the nj region that might be able to fix this issue. Thanks.

I fixed a similar problem with the passenger seat in my I35 where the seat would only move forward, and not backward. I fixed the problem by taking apart the switch assembly itself and scraping oxidation off the contacts inside. It was cheaper than paying the dealer $160 for a new switch...
thanks for the response. how hard of a task was that to do, did you take the entire seat out to do so? ima try it out this weekend. Just gotta figure out how to go about doing so.

I had that problem with my pass seat.I found somewhere on the forum where a member just tapped the motor with a screw driver.Im not sure what it freed up but it worked and been working since.Might try that before taking anything apart..
i'll try that in the morning, everything else works so im assuming it isnt the motor. hopefully it works thanks for the help guys

Yea, my problem may have been different, since I knew the motor worked. To take the switch out, I had to take the bolts out of the seat rails so I could access the bottom of the seat, and from there I could disconnect the connectors. Take a look at the FSM to see how the switch is secured in the seat, because I don't remember off the top of my head...
