I just installed some h3 3000k hid fogs on my 99 i30. It does have an hid retro using bmw 3 series bi-xenon projectors with 4300k D2s bulbs.

Wow! Those look very yellow. Do you just have the yellow colored fogs or are there yellow Lexus fog caps in there? (My yellow caps looked awesome until they got too hot and shattered.)

Will you post some picts of the fog lights, too?

it's just the 3000k bulbs. Unfortunately, the fogs themselves don't look impressive one bit.

Do you need the HID ballasts, too? Or just the 3000k bulbs?

The whole kit, the bulbs are worthless by themselves.

I figured. Just not too familiar with how HIDs work. Don't think I'm ready to play with that yet. I want that elusive ST-R kit first.

EsQueue your retro fit and yellow HID's look awesome! i just ordered a pair of yellow HID's for my I35. i'm just not too sure if i should go with 35w or 55w. any ideas guys?
also, does anybody happen to know what bulb is in the cornering light (the bulb right next to the fog light) on a 2002 I35? i think its 7440 or 7440a but not sure.

55w hid kit would be overkill for a fog. I'd save money and go with the 35w setup.

according to autozone's website your cornering bulb is 921

The 50w ballasts would just wash out the color. They'll be brighter, but you lose a little bit of the appearance.

I decided to not be lazy and check the cornering bulb myself by taking it out and imprinted on the bulb was 7440.

With the 55 watt kit, heat could become an issue. My 35watt 3000K fog lights get hot as hell. Overdriving aftermarket kit bulbs = no no

Did you only need to splice the corner lights so they come on with the fogs?

Yeah, they are spliced into the fogs. Haven't blown a fuse nor do the wires get warm.

Just bought 35W, H3 5000k ballast and lamp kit from the Bay for $38 shipped. My friend was selling ballast and bulbs of his 05 G35 for only $50 but i decided not to buy it because the bulbs will not fit in my fog lights. Will post pics when i install them this Friday.

Yup yellow capsules are where it's at! I've got some in my high beam projectors and the lenses on my ES300 fog projectors are yellow too with 3000K H3C's. I honestly couldn't be happier.

HIDPlanet.com always has some FS in the classifieds. I got mine for $10 shipped They have to get epoxied in but they're little yellow glass capsules that go over the bulbs to make them yellow or more yellow if you already have yellow bulbs or 3000K HIDs.

Never knew about these? I just ordered a set from a place I found. I guess I am a quick sale.
