I have a navigation on my 2000 infiniti i30, but sometimes it works, it would flip open but there would be a black screen and it wouldn't work. But when i take out the navigation cd clean it up a little and put it back in the navigation works again. Does anyone know what may be the problem there? Do i need a new navigation cd or fix the navigation console?

 

Although it seems like a hardware issue, I would start with a new cd and see if that helps. The screen should still work and just say the disc is not inserted. There is a thread on the Org about downloading and burning new cds.

I had a problem where the screen would open and then back up about a half an inch and the screen would not come on. There is a pressure switch under the screen thats only visible when the screen would back up that half an inch. When i pushed and held this switch for a second or two the screen would turn on. Does yours open and then re-adjust? I still dont know what the cause of this was.

 

The problem is that the one i have adjust but not so much that i see the switch, but maybe i can take a look and see if it does. Can you direct me to the thread for making a new cd. the screen would go blank if it can't read the cd i expect. if you can find the problem there is a way we can fix it otherwise ill have to keep cleaning and look for that switch. thanks

Which problem? The sceen not working at all, or the screen moves back half an inch? In other words, the OP's problem or mine?
