shifter **** for 4th gen max or 1st gen i30 5 speed
back in march when i first bought my 99 i30t it had a cruddy chrome and carbon fiber shift **** for the 5 speed, it was cylinder shaped and really didnt belong in the car because of the black leather and wood grain interior. i went to Auto zone and bought a cheap wood grain and chrome one that looked better but it would constantly work itself loose and that was annoying. so i found this website www.americanshifter.com and i found there plane black shift **** for 20 bucks. i didnt want anything fancy, just a shifter that felt good and didnt come loose.
heres a pic from the site:
this is a screw on type shift **** and youll need to buy the metric adapter kit to get it to fit our shifter, but ill tell ya its awesome. it feels good and doesnt come loose. i used a wrence to get the adapter on the shifter arm ad the hand tightened the ball on and its the best shifter for the money, way better then them cheap a** ones ya get from the zone. i thought all ya fellow maxima and i30 owners would like to know about a good product. IMO the only downside to this shift **** is waiting for it to arrive in the mail lol

My buddy with a 240 came to me to order a **** (he doesn't have a PayPal) and we ordered a Blox 490g in Neo Chrome. It's a threaded ball **** like the one above but it weighs a pound and it's so nice. It's a little more on the expensive side ($55) but it was well worth the money. His old **** was plastic and weighed like an ounce lol It goes through gears like a hot knife through butter now.

a big part of why i didnt wanna get the stock replacement is because of cost of a replacement from the dealer. the **** is made of the same stuff as like a cue ball, the weight feels right and fits my hand nicely. if ya looked at that website the have a bunch of weird and kewl shift *****. i like the one with the zombie hand griping the 8 ball, thats just sick. if i could afford it id get that one for my el camino heh
