I30 Trunk Mat

So I haven't really been doing much to my car lately, and I remembered that there was an accessory trunk mat for the 2000-2001 I30 that was better material than the one that comes from the factory, along with having the I30 logo embroidered into it. However, my issue is that my dealer says the only ones available in the country are made for vehicles with the CD changer, which I do not have; the ones without the cutout are nowhere to be found on the inventory locator. Does anyone know some random place that might have one sitting in some warehouse? eBay isn't showing anything, and everythingnissan.com, which was referenced in old posts, doesn't have it anymore. Or if anyone wants to part with theirs let me know . Otherwise I guess I'll end up just getting the one with the cutout just to have it

Worse comes to worst, you can try what I did in my Tucson...cheap and effective! But you wont have Infiniti or I30 branding...

I saw that somebody used this mat from Home Depot as a rear cargo mat:

Enviroback Charcoal 60 in. x 36 in. Recycled Rubber/Thermoplastic Rib Door Mat-60-443-1902-30000500 at The Home Depot

For less than $20, I figured I would try my hand at it considering the higher cost of the OEM floor mats even through feEbay. Plus since it comes in 3'x5' it can be cut into one piece!

So I rough cut a cardboard template of the rear cargo area:

I made a mental note that my cardboard didn't extend all the way to the edge of the lift gate and also cut about 0.25" larger than the cardboard. I'd rather have too much material and just have to trim it rather than have too little and have unsightly gaps!

As thick as this mat is, a good, sharp utility knife made quick work of it...however, remember what they said in the movie Contact, "small moves, Ellie....small moves."

After cutting I installed it and just trimmed up the spots that needed some fine tuning:

Sorry for the intense sun in this pic, but I just wanted to give you an idea of the coarseness of the mat's material:

Overall I'm please with the results. The mat has a heavy rubber backing that will keep it from moving at all. And the material is coarse enough to catch dirt and debris but also protect the carpeted surface of the spare tire cover. Especially since we will be moving a large baby stroller in and out of that area over the next few years.

Finished product:

Yours looks like it came out pretty good. My I30 has a mat in the trunk already, but I know that there was an accessory one, that in an old thread from like 2005 was described as being much better carpet and being much less flimsy than the one that comes in the car from the factory. I'm just figuring that there has to be one out there somewhere that I can get my hands on lol

How about Weathertech?

$$$$ but always well worth the cost!

I've looked at it, but I never really put anything in my trunk that requires the waterproof layer anyway. That and I just like having OEM just because I know it was stuff that was made for the car.

I would recommend you looking at parting out maximas in classified section. I believe trunk space is the same and you should be able to find one for good price. There is like 5 parting out maximas, ask the sellers and maybe they'll sell you one.

Only thing I don't like about that is having a mat that blatantly says Maxima on it when I have an I30. I know I'm being ****, but I think it would kinda bother me

I ended up calling one dealership, saying that one mat was available from the 2001 accessory catalog....at a dealership in California. Since the place I called is kinda far from me, I went to the dealership closer to me to see if they can find it. Unfortunately, they couldn't. So since I drive 20+ minutes, I ended up just having them order the trunk mat with the cutout. I figure that my cargo net will cover it up, and I may just pick up one of the Infiniti first aid kits off eBay to put on top too. I am kind of curious if the dealership I called ordered it even though it take me an hour to get there, and I wasn't really planning on going there; I just didn't wanna annoy the hell out of my dealer by calling them a million times
