Aftermarket Headunit in my i35, but problems.

I had a stereo shop install an aftermarket Double DIN unit in my 2003 i35 yesterday, but I found a couple problems with it that I need some help with.

1) The rear speakers quieter and my subwoofer doesn't work.
2) The Metra Dash Kit fits like crap, and I want to find a way to make it fit nicer.
3) Every time I turn the car on or off, there are some weird electrical noises. My brother told me it might have to do with the stereo shop not grounding the wires correctly or something.

I'm a noob with audio in cars, so can anyone please help me?

The metra kit does fit like crap. I have modded mines and still fits like crap but just a bit less. Do you know which wiring harness they used? Wiring them can be a bit tricky as there is 2 wires in the harness that must be grounded with the after market head unit's ground to the body as the stock unit grounds through the mounting bolts. Also if they used just the metra wiring harness the volume can sound low due to the voltage input required by the Bose amp. My deck had a 4v RCA output and I still needed the scosche slc4 to boost the voltage. Also it would be good for you to read the Bose replacement thread in the audio sub-forum on here.

Only way to deal with Bose is to rip out and replace with all non bose. You can do a decent sounding system for cheap if you do the work yourself. All you would have to do is add an aftermarket amp to your system and replace the speakers; I've done it in my Maxima; my I30's bose is still going strong though; it' funny cause they are both '97's. Anyway, the rip and replace is well worth it once done. Good sound is key, especially with a 40 minute commute. I did my rip and replace with Boss gear and the whole system cost around 350 (headunit, amps, & speakers).

Agreed I took mine out and never looked back still have the pac romens for ground pioneer 6300ub radio 6.5 components front coaxials in the rear two subs pushing a small dose of 500 watts is good for daily driving

I don't really understand why no one likes the Bose system that came in the cars stock. I think the sound in my I30 is great, definitely better than even my dad's Bose in his '09 GMC Sierra. FWIW, I have an aftermarket Pioneer head unit in, and it sounds perfect for me, no low volume and the sub works perfectly

My quality has dropped significantly from stock to aftermarket head unit...i borught the metra 7551 and that was garbage so I replaced it with the Pac Roemnis2. It is much better (i had to mess with my HU settings to make it decent) but there is still a lot of power lost

My experience is keep the stock HU and you will have great sound. If you want to replace the head unit then you have to get the pac adapter to make sound decent. If you want the navi (or whatever) AND great sound then you need to rip out everything and replace it all. I'm not down to put all that money in to a car with 250k KMs on it

You need to get this harness for it to work correctly, plug and play pretty much
